i guess they built that DRM in before they had committed to Steam for AntiCheat etc? I guess that might make sense....either way, I'm going to get it. I'm not thrilled about more DRM than just Steam itself, but it's not as bad as the previous Ubi DRM, so I can live with it.

The graphics look considerably better than the other trailer. I'll probably need a new video card to even run it. :p

I just hope it runs better than IL-2 1946, even if I have to turn the graphics down a lot.

*DROOOOOL*

Awesome video. All of the effects in the game look great, especially the cannon/mg tracers, cannon/MG smoke, and the fire and smoke coming from damaged planes.

And the live action pilots at 0:13. Truly amazing acting LOL. Hahahaha.

Seriously though, rest of it looks great.

I really doubt it will run better than IL2 1946, given that the engine that game is based on is at least 8 years old now. Cliffs of Dover looks to be much more demanding, which is to be expected with any new graphics engine.

That is true. Will this utilize quad cores?

I am looking to get an HD 6950 2GB but I can't afford to spend $290-300+ on one at the moment. But considering how 1946 runs, I am sure the 6950 will run CoD very poorly. :p

I love IL-2, I've been playing it for years. But after Wings of Prey, I'll look to this one with scepticism :s

Different companies, different types of games. Gaijin made WoP and Apache Air Assault. Sometimes lighter aircraft sims/games are nice. Considering an entirely different dev team made WoP, I don't see why it is a bad thing...

I'd rather have a realistic sim and a light sim than just a realistic sim.

You wouldn't approach it with skepticism if you were following this game since the beginning of its development 6+ years ago. This is the SAME TEAM behind the original IL-2 and all of its expansions, led by the legendary sim-maker Oleg Maddox. Wings of Prey was just a console off-shoot that had no connection to the original IL-2 games. This is the real deal, my friend.

That new trailer is just amazing. I will def. need a new GPU for this game though. That won't stop me from buying it though.

With all due respect to Steam, I'll probably opt for the PC-DVD hard copy of this game. I want a nice copy of the manual and the keyboard command card that will likely come with it.

Yeah the only downside is who knows how long it will take for a game like this to reach retailers. The other thing is that there is a deal right now where if you preorder, you get Silent Hunter III for free, which is very tempting! The preorder deal works with Steam too, but I'm more tempted to do it through Ubi.com, assuming they mail me a physical copy.

I already have SH3 :/

As do I. Came with SH2 as well. I could never get into SH3.

A nice deal for those looking to get both though. $50 is a reasonable price to. Though maybe this will change when it is actually being sold (to you in Australia)?
