It appears the hang/crash at splash screen issue contained in this thread has been abandoned by the gamer as has a solution by the devs, after more than 5400 views ... and also the other crash issue threads that have many more thousand views.
(There have been hundreds for dmp's and logs submitted .. most unread)

I guess if something is ignored long enough, people just give up and the problem is no longer addressed. (or even exists in the eyes of the devs)

The same solution seems to be the strategy concerning co-op modes and other options that were advertised as being in the game at release, are no where to be found, and are also ignored by the devs.

It would be nice if the devs could at least offer a few solutions for gamers to try since it has been over a month now, and posts here represent only a small portion of gamers having this and many other problems.

Already given up and waiting for ArmA III. Maybe someday this game will be playable (or that's what I hope).

This is just plain stupid. I'm trying to launch the game for 20th time now, nothing. Why the hell does this happen?! Once I can start it three times in a row, on next attempt I get stuck doing the same thing - launching the game - for 10 minutes without any result. This is just outrageous.

Edit.
Yeah, managed to launch the game after I don't know which attempt. Played for 1 minute, my team run out of reinforcements and match ended. Map switch and my sound is gone. Now to do the same thing for another 15min. Thank you TWI.

And meanwhile, I never played the game. Ever. It never launched. Ever. Not after 3 times. Not after waiting 40mins. Never.

If it's not resolved during the end of this week I'm getting my $$$ back.

My patience is about to end.

So TWI doesn't care about us apparently, or else they would have fixed this, and it's obviously fun, because the people I know that play it, that don't have the problem, say it is, which is making me hopeful that they'll fix it, but I highly doubt it.

Hello victims!

I got this issue too. It is not persistent however, re-installing ueredists and verifying the game files help. Sometime. Sometimes I cant get the game running no matter how many times I re-install or verify. I Would like to know what excatly this is related to? Whats causing it? How many of you others got dual core, or not that new CPU? I got Phenom II x2 560 3.3.

Heres a voodoo solution: While waiting the game to lauch take a pessimistic attitude and surf the interwebs, read the forum or whatever. Just when you find something worth reading the game suddenly wakes up. "No time for that now! The game is starting!" Works for me sometimes.

It's a Shame

It's a Shame

Well I have played alot of games over the years, including the original RO from the very beginning, that had problems too btw with crashing and the tweaking required at the start was annoying. Im an old timer compared to some of you, I remember having to activate sound functions in DoS to get games to work with sound and a time before proper GPU cards when all graphics functions where on board the mobo! ( yes Im that old) ;)

However,I think this has to be one of the worse crashfests I have ever experienced, the soul crushing thing is that I can be playing fine and then *bam* crash, then its crash, crash, crash at random points, booting the game, joining a map, changing a map, half way through a map..it's all so random, and frankly when you have a game that relies on saving of points and stats in order to progress, and then you crash on your best game in ages, it just sucks the whole enjoyment out of your time and effort. I think I have had one chance to play this game for more than 30 mins just after the last patch, since then, randomly, its just crashing, so I think It's safe to say that there is a fundamental problem with the way the game runs on a number of PC's, more than you would expect from a piece of software that is properly tested in my opinion.

I am a working guy, I want to come home, play a game for a while, get some progress and know my time was well spent doing something I enjoy, but frankly when I spend more time looking at crash logs and forums trying to get a game to function via tweeks then I ever do actually playing, I think I would rather do something else on a game that doesn't require this much effort.

What kind of software requires you to install the whole OS in order to have a chance to function , I admire people who will go to these lengths to play a game but there lies the road to insanity, what next, buying new components, GPU's, where does it end?

I think TWI should just admit this game was not ready to be shipped and offer some time frame for when they, if ever, are likely to have a working product that I paid my hard earned money for.

I don't want Tripwire to admit this game was not ready to be shipped, I just want them to fix my game which never worked ever.

Splash screen issue cause= My Computer

Splash screen issue cause= My Computer

Guys. I ran this program to see if my computer would handle RO2. It FAILED miserably on the processor part. You might want to give it a check before we go on with any bashing on TW. I still have the taste of my foot in my mouth and the reality of upgrading my Processor.

TWI have admitted there are many issues with this game, and constantly throw out one patch after another in an attempt to satisfy some.

I have posted similar messages in these forums but the only response I receive are from the fanboys attempting to intercept any valid post even when it includes facts, and links to threads, and posts to back up any claims.
I don't know if these few are paid by TWI, or if they have another motive, but it seems that the people from TWI are unable to speak for themselves, so these few find it necessary to jump with their intelligent comments.

It has been 5 weeks since game release and TWI have not even attempted a solution in this thread .. although there was one minor attempt suggesting deleting some files that Steam would reinstall.

It seems TWI has hit a brick wall with this issue, or has given up!!

I too am an old time gamer :) and this is the first game ever that I have been unable to load!

I might even be a little older than you as I had fun programming on the Atari 800.
Still have 2 of them and an Indus disk drive.

Not the case as I have a high-end machine. i7, hd6970, 6gb ram.
The game worked fine until one of the first patches they applied. It "borked" the game for my part. Can't get past the splash screen... ever!

I thought I had this same issue.

Turns out it was a steam error, try deleting clientregistry.blob

Worked for me, hope it helps some of you.
