If you cannot start the game at all.

1. First thing to try is to run the UE3 redist:

steam\steamapps\common\redorchestra2beta\binaries\windows

install both the punkbuster package & ue3redist

2. after installing that try if the game gets into the menu if it doesn't

go to

steam\steamapps\common\redorchestra2beta\binaries\win32\ROGame.exe

run that exe, and check if a error pops up that you're missing some file. If you are missing anything either post it here, or simply google the file yourself and try to get it. You should get a message that steam is not running that is normal .

3. try to launch the game with a -nosound tag, it could be that your soundcard is borking things up. (note of course this tag removes all sound from the game).

4. Try installing the latest version of directx from microsoft.

If you get something to work for you please post in this thread, so people can read what worked for you. Ill try to keep the post somewhat updated, but I cannot read all posts in these forum (as much as my postcount would make you think otherwise).

if i click rogame.exe directly i get the message
"STEAM is required to play the BETA"
i also get this message if i try to put it in compatibility mode and run from steam

so i'm still strugglin

that means that you're one step further and actually launch the game and get stuck somewhere there.

For you can you try to update the drivers for your motherboard & processor (yes processor drivers exist). As you managed to get a thread full of only x2 people with a similar issue.

i cannot find it through their website

using windows device manager and going to update my processor, i am "up to date"

but better than nothing

Does that happen before after you click on multiplayer? TWI is working on the issue in the multiplayer menu that it crawls to a halt and crashes your system

Hi Mr Lebanon,

I had this as well. I closed steam, deleted the ClientRegistry.Blob file within the steam folder and restarted. Then all was fine to start the game up.


From Steam support:

Certain Steam issues may be corrected by renaming the ClientRegistry.blob and restarting Steam.

Completely exit from the Steam client.

Restart Steam to allow the file to be recreated.

You cant fix things if they havent occured to others .

open the shortcut to ro2 and edit the target line and behind it all add -nosound

you can also right click the game in steam
properties
launch options
you'll get a text line
write -nosound

this will fix the crashing if your crashing is sound related (as mine ended up being)

Hey guys. Still having the proplem which is above-mentioned.

This morning i played RO2 Beta. It worked. I knew my system is good to max requirements exept my cpu which is Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.66 GHz. To play this game with full graphics i bought a Q6600 @2.4 GHz today, which reachs me tomorrow.

Now heres my BIG problem. i opened up my PC this afternoon, heading to the mainboard (all power plugs out ofcourse) to clean up my old cpu core and my cooler therewith its not dirty for the new Q6600. Put new Thermal compound on the core. Everything worked fine even no probs with other games, with or without steam. But not RO2 Beta.



I did all what you guys said. Punkbuster and redis.. installed/reinstalled, game reinstalled a few times, bios up to date, mainboard realtek driver, newest direct x, -nosound with a shortcut doesent help me neither (same "steam is required"), checked game for files-errors (in steam), did that thing with ClientRegistry.blob






STILL having a message "rogame.exe funktioniert nicht mehr" * "rogame.exe doesn't work anymore' and I'm dying over here, want to play the beta.

you're supposed to get that error. That means the game is launching and you crash somewhere after the game has launched. How early it might be after the launch.

Try to upload your log file somewhere.

One thing I had to do when I was getting crashes was after having tried to maually adjust the Frame limits thru ROEngine.ini the game would no longer load past first splash screen. I had to go and rename my config folder in mydocuments\mygames\unrealengine3\rogame\ and restarting the game. I had some settings that didn't seem to take also when in game and had to do the same for that. The only way I was able to get settings to take was to make my adjustments then close and restart the game.

Just some extra info if the above fixes are not working for some.

not unless you can get ingame . So try manually deleting the files in your mydocuments.

My problem was "ROexe" crash at launch the game,install first step of your guide(Install/reinstall P.B. and ue3redist) now everything is perfect.

Well,first run testing Heroes,lets see more tries how the launcher moves.
