(I've just gotten into Red Orchestra osfront last week and I hate the noob friendly additions)
Hi,after playing the beta last night I was very disappointed. Everything that appealed to me in Red Orchestra Osfront is gone. If tripwire would add a checkbox which I could check or uncheck,I'd like this game alot more.

I just want to play on servers that are made to appeal to Osfront fans with ALL of the following settings.

*Teammate names only displayed at REALLY close range and one at a time, like in osfront (or not at all.)

*No killcam

*No minimap in hud,a map button is used instead

*Weapon can be shot out of your hand (you cant get your weapon shot out of hand in ro2)

*No icons in your vision (only on your map)

*No vision zooming at all, ever. (Only a scope can provide a telescopic view)

*Weapons are no so accurate

*Aiming down the sight takes as long as it does in osfront, readying your weapon while going prone takes just as long as it does in osfront.

*no grenade button

*No sidearms

*No player shouting (or only hear your teammates)

*Running slowed down, less sprint energy (like it was in osfront)

*No spawning anywhere other than in a spawn point

The vanilla game is terrible in Red Orchestra 2.
By the way,I think allowing teammates to forgive accidental teamkillers works well.

Firefight needs to go

as my friends have been calling it

"call of duty mode"
Thats stupid, its fine to have it in there to ease new players into the series, why would you not want Ro to get more popular? i dont want to play with like 1000 people after a month.

Hey, even if its there, you do not have to play it.

If you want all these game changing things that can not be changed in the server settings, just make your own mutator/mod.

I personally think its fine, and when we get to play the real Realism mode on the 13th with no nametags its going to be great, the nametags are the things that annoys me the most.

I agree with just about everything stated.
Having the OPTION to disable or enable certain things to add or remove the reality feel are a must for the RO games.
Tripwire has done an awesome job so far from what I've felt of the Beta and I know its only going to get better.

Hiss! The game is accessible and not as obtuse as a brick wall for new players! This obviously means that it's no longer "hard-core" as it doesn't require fifteen keypresses to fire your rifle or switch weapons! It is obviously inferior and dumbed down to be more like Call of Duty!

Honestly, show me another game that factors in bullet drop, MG barrel heating, iron-sights on a sniper, etc. etc.

The only drop in difficulty that RO2 has suffered is that you can accomplish the same **** with half the keypresses. I'd say that's a win-win. You still drop dead with a single bullet, you still have to factor gravity into your shots, and you're still squatting behind a bit of wall looking for the glint of a helmet somewhere down the road, and I'm still getting insta-killed by players I never saw.

You don't need to throw in fake difficulty through overly complex controls and obtuse features on top of that.

LoL.The gameplay rocks... Why all that stuff ?

Why you want e.g. super slow aiming down the sight ? It is completely unrealistic tbh.

Id second that idea.

Long time player of RO from the ROMod days and must say i was expecting it to be more like them but with improved graphics and gameplay.

Can't believe there are still people saying zoom is unrealistic. Get it through your head: the zoom only allows you to see objects near the size they would actually appear in reality. The 'normal' zoomed out state is nowhere near realistic in terms of the size/distance objects should appear. It is a necessary compromise between reasonable peripheral vision and reasonable ability to see/focus on/aim at targets.

smg's need a little bit more recoil. the mp40 feels like shooting a bb gun. rifles seemed decent. cover system works pretty nice imo.

I like your idea.
New player "helpers" like the name display and tool tips could be phased out on a per-player basis.
Like when you level up your honor, yes you are less suppressed ect. but also receive a bit less HUD help. Good to balance it. The players who've earned the better loadouts also play a more real game.

Its good for new players too because it eases them into the world of RO without changing the world too much.

*Weapons are no so accurate
Better yet, Tripwire go back in time. And teach all weapons designers that they should not build accurate firearms, so that the balance of "realistic" video games is better!

*Aiming down the sight takes as long as it does in osfront, readying your weapon while going prone takes just as long as it does in osfront.
Iron sights are designed to be easy to use. That one is kind of simple

*Running slowed down, less sprint energy (like it was in osfront)
Tripwire please tell soldiers on the battlefield who do not want to die to slow down. Take their time crossing fields of enemy fire when the **** hits the fan...

*No spawning anywhere other than in a spawn point
Someone likes to spawn rape!

The others ones not so bad, but from my understanding I believe they are client options on servers. Also their is Realistic Mode. Which I believe is not yet fully available.

Red Orchestra osfront had slower aiming down the sight. You couldn't do callofduty style dropshots because dropping down and aiming down the sight leaves you unable to fire for 4 seconds. I had to take my chances hipfiring a bolt action rifle against an smg wielding guy because aiming down the sight gives him more time to react. It adds more risk to aiming down the sight and more reason to hipfire when someone's got you in their sights. It certainly didn't feel like I was playing call of duty.
That's my argument,it makes the game less like call of duty and more like red orchestra ostfront. I'd rather have Ostfront with better graphics than Call of Duty 2 with free-aim.

let me get my point through.
My point is that what good is Red Orchestra 2's freeaim system if you can aim down your sight so fast you never have to hipfire. Freeaim because of fast ads has lost it's purpose.
