I'd like to see a RO Mod with Canadian and/or Australian forces involved..... both countries' troops were referred to as "Shock/Storm Troopers" in both WWI and WWII, as they would be sent in to do the jobs other allied forces failed to complete and became feared by many in the German Army.

I think it'd be pretty good having both within one Mod, as the uniforms and weapons would be almost similar, you could use the same german models and weapons with a few tweaks based on map locations and dates, modify the accents in each map, and design maps based on the battles each were involved in.

If I remember correctly, Darkest Hour has US and British soldiers playing.... but to me, it's just not a good filler for the type of game play that could exist being a Canadian or Australian Shock Troop coming at a heavily fortified German position, or vice versa. DH does have Commonwealth character models and the sort, but they're not clearly defined and still focuses mostly on the British & US.

Looking up the details on Shock Troops, the Soviets used Shock Troops in Stalingrad, so I think the above would be fitting.

One thing I came across online was the following:

1. Although few people know it, the term derives from the name Germans called Canadian Expeditionary Force soldiers during WWI ("Sturmmann"). Certain divisions of German soldiers, both in WWI and WWII, would later call themselves this name. Its meaning is exactly what you would expect--troops capable of quickly and efficiently overcoming opposing forces.

DH has Canadians. :)

You'll know when you're playing as them because they've got British weapons, American voices (we had no voice actors :p ), Canadian outfits and the HUD elements are gold instead of green or blue. They're not in many maps, but they do exist!

Mare Nostrum for RO1 had Brits, Aussies and Polish forces in it. Not to mention Italians on the Axis side.

We're not against the idea of ANZAC forces in Vietnam in In Country: Vietnam either. But they are unlikely to be a release 1 inclusion.

Well it's been quite a while since I played DH, and I've stmbled upon a few threads about it in the last while, so I guess I should give it a spin again.

I think the thing that originally turned me off was that I found many of the iron sights difficult to aim with, compared to RO, and if I remember correctly, the muzzle flash was so excessive that I lost visual on my target easily. Combined with the IS, it was almost impossible to land a decent hit without hipshooting or being at close range.... and with experience with RO:CA and RO:Ost, I didn't think it'd be too much of a difference.

With MareN, I did play that too, but found there wasn't many servers or players. I played both mods around the same time, which was a few month after their release, so I don't know what might have changed since then.

But hey, if someone needs a voice actor for a Canadian, I can do a pretty good Atlantic Coast accent, or if one wants that typical slow speaking like you're a little challenged Western Canadian accent, which over pronounces the "O's" and says "Eh" a lot, I guess I could do that to :p

It is my intention to have some Canadians in Homefront '46, though I would have to recruit some voice actors. :D

No Aussies or Kiwis, though.
