Never heard of them.

I also don't need the thoughts of a few gamers to help me decide on a game when we have an internet full of pro-reviewers, and good old hear-say.

What you've come up with then, is probably the worst marketing idea, but nice try.

YOU might not need it. But I'm talking about the millions of gamers who have never heard about Red Orchestra. The people I mentioned an many more, affect the opinions of many many gamers that you could reach through them. Think what you may, but I think it's a pretty good idea on how to reach the audience. This is your "good old hear-say" just on a larger scale.

I guarantee there are far more people in the dark over those people you mentioned than those who don't know what Red Orchestra 2 is - not only has it been written about extensively online on numerous gaming sites, it's also been published in gaming magazines, hell I bet even my grandma has heard something about it.

Not bad considering they're only just kicking off their own marketing campaign.

Your idea still fails, I'm afraid.

Should send one to TheCynicalBrit (who already made a video of dwarfs, which incited me to go buy it) and maybe, if you are brave, Yahtzee over at theescapist

The fact that you don't know about these people doesn't mean the world in general is unaware of them. Take the Yogscast for example. They currently have 720,507 subscribers on their primary YouTube channel and 212,591 on their secondary channel. TotalBiscuit is another YouTuber with a huge audience, he has 421,152 subs. While you are checking out the links also have a look at the number of views videos from these channels get. Take TB's WTF is ... series for example. Those videos get between 100.000 and 200.000 views within the first week. That's a lot. So I wouldn't exactly say that this idea fails.

Want a good idea for marketing? Get some famous people to endorse it. Like have the HoS logo on NASCAR racer jump suits and stickers on their cars, or even go for celebrities like Amy Whinehou- oh ****...

i too, have never heard of them

however if they have a large audence for w/e games they play
it may not be a bad idea
as TWI wants to attract other populations

I had a similar strategy for a high school dance i helped organize
gave a few popular kids discounted tickets... when people heard they were going ticket sales exploded

not sure if that'll work in a video game

This could backfire if none of us have heard of these guys... What games are they exactly "stars" at? COD? I bet they would tell all their little toadies that it sucks and then people would come troll us and lose sales. Nice idea.

Yogscast and TotalBiscuit(or TotalHalibut) would both be great choices, they both have like a million subscribers.

Or Huskystarcraft. He's pretty popular and he did a few fps videos. Or you could try to sponsor a starcraft tournament like mlg or nasl :)

It worked with minecraft. Or was it terraria... I don't remember which, but I remember some indie game that the yogscast played and said they liked it, the sales for the game rocketed through the roof after they stated that it was good.

The same thing happend with dwarfs, a game published by TWI. The devs even put simon in the game because of it. I think this is a good idea, just make sure they put the game in the right peoples hands. I don't think the yogcast guys really like fps games that much(except portal)

You obviously have no idea what you're talking about.

Would ends up pretty funny I guess if Simon and Lewis trying to play in the same side on multiplayer. TotalBiscuit would surely recommend this game in his WTF review so yeah it's not a problem I guess.

Or they could do like what they've done with Magicka. Shame that coop is not yet finished.

This'll work because I know how fanatical some users are. It goes both ways, though. On Giantbomb, I generally hate its community because they cling onto whatever Jeff Gerstmann says about a game. If a game is well received, all comments are positive and "I guess I'll have to check this out" or if it's negative, it's "I knew this game would suck."

But don't send it to Yahtzee. I love the guy personally, but some people make the mistake of taking him seriously. And he hates realism and multiplayer.
