Has tripwire ever considered marketing RO2 by sending a batch of free copies to famous internet games to people such as The Yogscast, David64yt or A.K.A X, and other internet gaming "stars" and ask them to check out the game and maybe tell their fans about. I mean a few free copies for these guys would as far as I know cost a lot less than any sort of tv advertisement and I know a lot of people who buy games on a policy of "If the Yogscast plays it I'm buying it". I think this could boost sales tremendously and give RO2 a lot of publicity.

I think they need to first consolidate the inormation about what's coming on relase.

I see d2p, steam, ign preview talking about coop play. Co-op is not in the release and new comers and reviewers need to know whats coming on release and whats coming later.

How about saying Justin Bieber has the game and you can try to kill him.

I would go on a murderous rampage and would stab him 78912313131 times with a machete.
WHY someone kills John Lenon but has not killed him yet I have no clue why.

i too, have never heard of them

however if they have a large audence for w/e games they play
it may not be a bad idea
as TWI wants to attract other populations

I had a similar strategy for a high school dance i helped organize
gave a few popular kids discounted tickets... when people heard they were going ticket sales exploded

not sure if that'll work in a video game

It worked with minecraft. Or was it terraria... I don't remember which, but I remember some indie game that the yogscast played and said they liked it, the sales for the game rocketed through the roof after they stated that it was good.

I imagine it would. The same thing applies to quite a few things, y'know. :IS2:

It's like making an ad with a really famous person driving a new brand of car, people often react in the same way as you described.

I don't know if I'm just slow or what, but I don't understand what sort of relevance does that have to the topic D:

Don't know how you guys don't know them, they're pretty popular youtube stars. Yes, it would probably work (Yogscast has already had tons of people buy games they never heard of) but I don't think they should give away free copies.

I know with terraria, Notch (minecraft creator) said that terraria looks pretty cool... and every minecraft player went and bought terraria straight off of release aha

what i'd like to see is cr1t1kal (penguinz0) try and play RO/RO2

I don't think Simon and the other dude from the Yogscast will like RO2. TotalBiscuit on the other hand loves shooters and does his WTF is ... series since a couple of months.

Well anyone with large enough fanbases will do, we need to spread the word far and wide after all.
