Build KillingFloor_Build_[2009-02-09_10.82]
OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: GenuineIntel PentiumPro-class processor @ 2670 MHz with 1023MB RAM
Video: ATI Radeon HD 4850 (597)
Error setting display mode: CreateDevice failed (80004005). Please delete your KillingFloor.ini file if this error prevents you from starting the game.
History: UD3D9RenderDevice::UnSetRes <- CreateDevice <- UD3D9RenderDevice::SetRes <- UWindowsViewport::TryRenderDevice <- UWindowsViewport::OpenWindow <- UGameEngine::Init <- InitEngine <- FMallocWindows::Free <- FMallocWindows::Free

THe game started the first time. I changed the video setting to match my monitor and the game crashed. Can't open it now. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, etc.

The file, killingfloor.ini, doesn't even exist.

BTW, I'm not using XP as the error says. I'm running vista. Yes everything is running as admin. My computer easily meets requirements. It's an I7 dual-quad core. You see my video card above. Steam runs COD4 just fine. Help please!

If by validate you mean verifying integrity of game cache, then yes. Otherwise, please explain. I've only been using steam for about 8 months so not super familiar. I just know how to start my games and buy new ones...lol

:DRO/system folder, look RO.ini file.

[WinDrv.WindowsClient]

Look line : FullscreenViewportX=1680
FullscreenViewportY=1050

Thats for a 22" WS resolution !

Set to your monitor native resolution!

Might help, might not.

EDIT: Or whatever Unreal game you are playing :D.

I figured it out. I had to go in the KillingFloor configuration setting file and change the resolution to a lower reso. Now it works.

Thanks for the help.
