I happen to agree with Corn8. If you try to please two different types of gamers (one of them being "nerds" as someone so condescendingly said, the other being action gamers), you're probably not really going to totally please either of them.
The game is either realistic or it isn't, and tweaking settings most likely won't make it one or the other. I worry that this will end up being sort of a hybrid game but maybe it will be a breakthrough. I'm totally turned off by CoD and any arcade style shenanigans, the kind of players it brings in, etc.. that's why I'm worried about some- not all, but some - of the new features and "feel" of the game.
Sure, you can relegate the realism crowd to their own servers, but that doesn't really encourage other players who aren't sure what they like to really dig in and try to play within some realistically, and differently-challenging parameters. I really had a hard time with RO1 at first, and if there had been some "arcade style" option instead, I probably would have just played that,. until I got bored with it or the next action- based shooter came along. Instead, I stuck it out, got really into the game and now I love it, and I especially love it for having a bit of a learning curve that made the investment of time and patience worthwhile.
But that's just me. The game still looks awesome, and it might actually achieve the best of both worlds, both realism and action. We shall see.
