This thread is full of ****.

How is RO2 worse than RO1???????
All I see is improvements in every aspect, some bugs here and there which obviously will get fixed.

How can the atmosphere be worse? With all the new battlecries and animations????
There is actually more initiative to win this time around because of the leveling system.....

So please lock this thread because the OP has lost his mind and needs to lubricate his e-peen better.

Lack of atmosphere and/or the epicness/ importance of trying to win on a map.

Random FPS drops, arty FPS drops, poor optimization for many people including me.

Stats not working.

VOIP making people sound like Chewbakka, which is in fact a very good resource for teamwork.

Mediocre maps that almost seem to encourage solo play. Comiisars house and grain elevator are good however.

The use key that does 3 things in one.

The recon plane, that spots enemies, when pressing T brings up "enemy xxxx spotted" with rediculously big icons.

The cover system which when used, still makes you vulnerable to headshots.

Prone that gets stuck on some open areas.

Clunky controls, in which at rare times, your character could not do what you wanted him to do.

The radial orders menu that is overcomplicated resulting in you giving the wrong orders accidentally.

Being unable to respond to orders.

No1 caring about orders.

Being unable to mark artillery with squad leader any further than 100m away.

Mounted MG emplacements, which i would have loved to be a choice of weapon for the MG'er.

MG'er recoil when deployed being too high.

Lockdown being in the game.

anything else?

I played ro1 since retail release and i feel that ro2 is a great sequel im sorry you dont... but to me these battle are just as epic as they were in ro1 the last 2 years i played ro didnt even feel epic anymore... I was just going through the motions on tired old maps on a tired old engine. Now we have a new game that is good and can be even better all it needs is support from the community and people to stop acting like you.... :)

I like RO2 much more than the first one. The overall mechanics and movement in RO1 were to clunky, the weapons were to inaccurate. RO2 feels a lot better to me and I love all the new adds.

im just saying that if you are expecting a sequel, you expect the same flavour of game.
You expect it with films, why not with ?
and because this is such a niche game, i would have expected the same flavour even more.
But right now, i wouldnt know where to place it.

its not a cod or bf competitor, its not a realistic ww2 shooter.
its not like tf or counterstrike?
so what then? just another generic game that will be forgotten about in a short time?
Its not even original enough to be placed in a "in its own league" category, like RO was

it is the same game you are just blind

Lack of epicness? Pardon me sir, but I've played RO1 for a few months before this game came out. If that game is epic then I dunno what isn't. Perhaps you never played any other game than RO1 and that's why you feel that way. The game is sterile, boring, hard to get into and glitchy as hell. You die and have to run 2 minutes to even reach a fight, then you get shot from 10000 meters. The addition of huge amounts of maps, tanks, skins, downloads in general only pushed me even further away from that game. Sure, all the community work is appreciated, but when you buy a 5 year old game you have to download pretty much every map and tank, which takes a lot of time on my connection. I desperately wanted to love it cause I'm into ww2 in general, not only games. RO2 provides a much better atmosphere, people screaming and shouting while dying, suppression, sound, graphics, shooting mechanics, zoomed rifle shooting (which is completely realistic tbh, compared to the real human eye).

There are problems but the game is not in any way worse than RO1, I dont give a **** if my rifle doesn't fall out of my hands when someone shoots me.

After a certain point, options start to divide the community. I mean....look at the divides around us right now. Unlocks vs. no unlocks. Realism-anything vs. relaxed realism. Even the divide between people who want aiming to be so hard it scares people away from the game, and people who don't want arbitrary amounts of "realism" thrown in to annoy them.

You can't always try and split the difference between the fan base. At some point you have to decide that there is a way the game is going to be played, because it's the kind of game YOU as a developer want to create.

It's possible the guys that made RO1 played some of the newer games and thought "you know, I actually like some parts of this. Maybe if we can get it working right we can take the bad out of it and leave the good."

I understand your argument, but I believe it is a weak one. Server side options, in my opinion, would divide the community less than full-conversion mods.

As of now, we have many features that are optional, divided into two vanilla templates: 'Relaxed' and 'Hardcore'. Server admins are given the choice between these two templates, or the choice to tweak these templates as they see fit. While we are given the option to play on a server that has no HUD, yet still has a 'Kill-Cam', why are we not given the option to play on a server that does not provide 'Spawn on Squad Leader'?

I respect TWI; they have worked extremely hard, are extremely dedicated, and have accomplished a lot. However, I disagree with the way they currently have certain features set up. In fact, I believe that what you see as 'dividing the community' would actually be beneficial to TWI in reaching a wider audience. I realize that there will (most likely) be mods which provide the options I have mentioned, but I am disappointed that TWI did not provide these options themselves, out-of-the-box.

I ****ing played the **** out of that game through the course of my life on and off!
Nostalgia blinds people, I still have this warm feeling for Playstation games like GEX lol. In my mind the graphics were JAWDROPPING and the gameplay!!!! Go watch a youtube video of that game and tell me that you don't disagree with me hahahaha.

So basically 80% of the complaint list the OP has is about things that will probably be fixed one way or another, if the complaint makes sense that is.

The 20% that's left is simply because he wants RO2 to be RO1+better graphics.

Impatient and conservative are 2 words that come to mind. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole "lack of atmosphere" and the complaints about the game being too solo oriented is because of one reason only. Which is that he doesn't have a clan to play with.

Atleast he took the time to make himself perfectly clear. But that doesn't change the fact that he would rather blame the game than actually see that the only things to blame is a lack of time for developers and his own effort to properly enjoy the game.

Get rid of fans? TWI didn't tell anyone to get lost. This is an example of people taking the way TWI chose to design their game as a personal insult. And that's where it crosses the pale for me. However you feel about the game, saying that "TWI abandoned us" or "traded us in for the CoD crowd" or whatever is where the whole catharsis of the RO1 vets starts to piss me off.

QFT!

They complain about others and their feeling of entitlement.....then behave in the same way or worse themselves

Can't be much of a ro1 vet or he would have remembered ro1 was far from the game it is today as a mod.And its funny seeing people expecting ro2 to just be ro1 with better graphics. If tripwire did that they would just be another cod game with added maps and a few bells and whistles.

90% of his complaints can be fixed with some patch tweaks and probably will if the fans keep asking for it.Being a loyal fan of ro1 I am more than happy with ro2 while yes its not ro1 i never expected it to be.Its more like ro1 than any other game that will ever release I can promise that.To be a great sequel you have to build upon what made the first one good not just add better graphics.

As for atmosphere you can't expect that on a brand new game on the first day playing public servers thats just expecting too much. While I enjoy even public servers I have found playing clan matches have been even better. The core gameplay is still there you and the atmosphere was 100 times better on these clan servers.

The lack of faith and patients out of some so called loyal TWI fans is disturbing and comes off as just trolling.Don't take it to heart tho dev's if you can make me the most die hard ro1 player around happy while at the same time getting new players hooked and saying its awesome you guys have done nothing wrong.

You can't please everyone and some people just refuse to have patients and adapt to anything new.If this is the case they wasn't your loyal fans after all so ignore their trolling. These people can just go back to ro1 and play while everyone has the right to their opinion good luck on finding a game even close to ro1 in today's market. This ones plenty close enough for me and I see myself playing this one for years! to come.

This sounds almost exactly like the threads in the forums when RO went retail from the mod days. It's RUINED! They've betrayed their core fans!! Some of us just can't deal with change. :)

I agree on some things and don't on others. I find RO2 tries to be like a BF2-BC2 type game with the different game modes. Instead of just picking a side and killing enemies you have some mission to do. Another huge issue for me is the maps reset so fast when a side reaches a goal. I spend more time re-spawning then I do actually playing. Also not being able to exit a tank completly killed tank warefare in this game. Tank battles are what set RO1 apart! So I feel this was a huge mistake in RO2. Finally sounding like Darth Vadar from Star-Wars when you use your iron sights is silly! This is not needed period! Patch this nonsense out!!

As for performance: I have no clue what the issue is for some of you guys. My system plays this game smooth as silk! This is obviously an AMD/ATi problem and not Nvidia. My system fraps 80 FPS solid in this game Ultra quality! I have a GTX460 video card and an I5 2500K running 4GHz. Unfortunatly this is an issue AMD/ATi users have to blame the company that makes the drivers. You can't blame Trip for this. AMD/ATi needs to release a driver to play this game smoothly. So your *****ing and ranting is directed at the wrong place! This is a problem that happends for almost every single different game. In this case AMD/ATi failed...

Back to RO2: This game needs a few good patches before I will be happy. We all know the team for this game releases patches very fast. So I do trust this will be fixed. Everyone that played RO1 at the beginning knows how buggy it was. Not look at the game...

What a lot of you don't understand is TWI doesn't OWE YOU ANYTHING. Not one thing. They made the game THEY wanted to make, they are gamers like you and I and they wanted to make a game that THEY wanted to play, just like RO1.. Some features had to be cut because of cost/time, but they will be implemented back in down the road.

For anyone who is NEW to the RO series you have NO RIGHT to complain about anything. You have no idea how TWI works, they will make this game 10x better than it already is in due time. When RO first released as a mod it wasn't perfect, but with time it became amazing. This will to.

THE END.

The game is good, it needs some tweaks and patches.
More people with brains.

the MG 34 has way too much recoil to be effective against some MKB run 'n gunners.

Hopefully after a month ro will see some improvement.
In this state it is just not immersive, some times plain annoying game too play becaus of the semi/auto weapons dominating the battlefield.

I miss the entrenched forest battles.
The teamwork.

The satisfaction when you got a kill.
The commander with a brain.
Big open maps (atleast with a mobile spawn)

Now it just doesn't quite give me a feeling of WOW

+1

I've still have faith in TW: I really like some choices (the zoom for example), not some others (bandage system).

unfortunately its not just ati/amd. i have a gts250.
its just random :(

GTS250 is at the same performace as a 9800GTX+. So in your case the card you are using is just too outdated for this game. GTS450 would be a more suited card for the UT3 game engine my friend. There is nothing "random" about outdated hardware...

Actually they do in fact owe us something. They owe us a bug free game that stays true to Red Orchestra! The switch to a COD fast pace game is not true to RO in any way shape or form! I can handle the game bugs because I know that will all be patched out. But the crappy game play modes can not be ever patched out...

i can run any UE3 game max settings at 60 fps without a hitch, in fact any new release medium or more.
This game is terribly optimized. you dont have to go far to find that out.
its hardly outdated hardware.

not only that, but if u look. people have slow fps no matter what their gfx settings are. I could put RO2 on ultra and it stays the same.
pretty terrible then :(
