I have a Steam game that won't run.

I just downloaded Europe Universalis 3 on Steam last night, but it won't play, I just click "play" and it doesn't do anything.

Try closing steam and deleting your clientregistry.blob file and restarting. If that doesn't work it sounds like you need to contact steam support (if the game isn't showing a splash screen or anything).

Thanks but that didn't work, what happens is I press play and the little gray box comes up for a second then disappears.

Well, you could try searching either the Steam forums specific to the game, or the Paradox forums seeing as those actually might contain answers to the problem. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1296475 probably has the solution.

I had the same issue with the COH game.My original disc version ran fine.But the downloaded through steam piles of crap never ran.In fact the even broke my disc install as well.
I even went on various forums and steam places,sent tickets to the help(what a joke) dept on steam.
In the end i deleted the bloody game and gave up.That was me

Nick: you should probably contact Paradox Interactive tech support for this.
Also: did you update your display drivers? Did you also make sure you have the latest version of EUIII (that game's been patched to hell)?

I remember that something similar happened to me with Empire; the gray loading box would appear and then disappear, and I was forced to abstain from it for some time, until one month later I decided to give it a shot again and it worked o_0. The smart thing to do would be steam support though.

Isn't there a seperate game launcher in the game folder? Try using that.

im surprised EU needed updated drivers seeing as its essentially a pimped out spreadsheet game-don't get me wrong, I love spreadsheet games like that and football manager
