I can't really speak for any Hard+ difficulties, but for every 4 players I see on Normal/Beginner that make me plant my palm into my face with their hilarious flamethrower + berserker combinations there's at least one decent one who kinda knows what they're doing - and if not, they pick it up fast enough.

To be fair, they should really have some sort of training course for new players, once you play beginner for a while you see players getting into the habit of getting away with things. Whether it's playing a Firebug while rocking an AA12, not sharing money with new/recently resurrected players, or enraging Scrakes/Fleshpounds - these habits add up, and once they move onto greater difficulties - they can be potentially fatal for the team as a whole.

I've only had the game for what, a week or so, so I'm no expert or had a great deal of experience, but I've only seen one purposeful griefer in my time, and frankly, as long as new berserkers keep on getting killed by Clots I get my kicks, one way or the other >:D.

Recently I've played with friends on hard who have level 2 perks, plus a couple of level 5-6. Can get quite far, and sometimes finish a map, but have much more rewarding games. It does help having the less experienced people in Mumble to give them pointers. If you've read and understood the wiki, you're going to be an asset to a team no matter the difficulty. It only takes one random without a clue on Hard and above to join and get everyone killed.

Also seen people with level 6 for all perks with less than 5 hours game experience. They certainly didn't earn their perks and it really shows. Very sad.

the only people I have a problem with are those that join late in game, beg for money, buy something stupid, die as soon as the round starts, and rage quits. other than those people I have no problem with low levels joing my games, although I main stick to the EGN servers, which are primarily normal/hard.

That would explain those few times when I saw couple of lvl6 players who sucked, and this was only on normal.

Also just earlier today I had 40 hp and asked other players to heal me only to be responded with Insult Player. I just can't understand what the hell they where thinking? If they'd healed me they'd get money and train their Medic perk and have a better chance against next wave with healthy team mate, but no those a holes just didn't give a crap. Also after that wave one of them decided to of course weld the door to trader. I just grenaded the door, told everyone f you (I don't take stuff like this very well) and looked for a better server.

And one last rant. Demolitions, don't shoot your god damn expensive and few grenades against a single god damn Clot/Crawler/Gorefast!!!!!!! You're driving me insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That behavior really makes me not like any Demolitions player under lvl4 as they're most likely to exercise such idiotic behavior.

From the perspective of a new player, my experience has been mixed so far. I've had fun with the game, but there are some major frustrations.

Some background: I'm not new to FPSs. I've played L4D2 and source-mods like Dystopia in addition to everything from Crysis to Serious Sam. I'm not a great player, but I'm no slouch either. I got the game over the free weekend because my roommates and I are always looking for a multiplayer shooter to play together. I've put about 40 hours into the game and most of my perks are level 2-4.

I played a few games on beginner to mess around with things and I've played all the other games on normal. The game itself is engaging and there is a good progression system for people who really want to sink time into the game. I like it a lot, but the players have either been meh at best or game-ruining at worst. I went through most of the info on the wiki before playing normal. I try to pick up as much information and strategy as I can when I start playing a new game, especially one where teamwork is as important as Killing Floor. As a level two firebug I know not to piss off a skrake, whereas my level 4 sharpshooter can easily deal with them. I'm not ready for HoE yet, but I'm probably going to start playing on hard for more challenge.

I can't say as much for most of the people I've played with. They don't know basic things like not shooting an FP with a bullpup, or running off with off-perk weapons to go rambo on the zombies. The few higher level people I've seen are not good and I don't think earned their rank. For example, a level six medic joins a game in progress and proceeds to not heal anyone and constantly begs for money. He then goes off solo to kill to hog kills and gets himself mauled by a skrake. Between people refusing to be team players and others doing stupid things and getting themselves killed the game is a lot more frustrating than it should be. I don't know what the community was like before I joined and I don't think I've played with the better players, but from my perspective the community has not been great. It has gotten to the point that I'm considering getting a private server.

Welcome to the club :(

a piece of advice, don't use the wiki, there is a lot of false information in it as there is no admin control to keep things in check and make sure the stuff being posted is accurate

It's called "killing Floor". You're here to enjoy the killing. Savor the new bounty of heads to mount on your wall or learn to be a masochist. Life is a lot easier when you are a masochist, it's full of pain.
Level 3 isnt that bad, well no, even level 0 can do a good job busting up some faces if he has decent aim. Tell him to pick up a lever action and aim for the head, if he does well, congratulate him with the offer of a shiny new gun to play with or money (if you can spare). If he doesnt do so well, then get ready for pain, on your part or the specimens.
