While I was cutting some lumber a week ago, not so far from my home I found something. Some a tin can, with something heavy inside and this by its side. It was mere luck that I bumped into it

With some effort I removed most of the rust of what seems to have been an dagger, now I wonder if anyone can help me indentify what kind of dagger it is?
The eagle indicates it might have been an german dagger, but anyone know what it have looked like "new?".

It looks like a re-production if you ask me. Other then that, maybe it was just a decorative weapon used in some kind of military ceremony.

I doubt it was used in the field, cos of the hilt.

I live in norway.. The place i found this is not that far away from what used to be an military base for the germans.

Theres a huge complex of MG bunkers, Anti Tank cannon bunkers, Flak 88 posisions and such, even a rocket artilery battery have i been told was there.

@aktionman

It resembles a lot, thanks.

It looks like a re-production if you ask me..
Why would anyone buy an reproduction, then trow it into a forest close to an old abondoned military base?

Its a place called Rossmoen.
Abondoned in 45. Nothing but ruins these days, except for the old command bunker thats still in "use" by the home guard I think.

Great find. It does look like that dagger aktionman posted. I don't know a lot about daggers myself, but if it's real, it's a keeper! :)

Can you find any markings on it, like on the blade or something?

No, as you can see on the "highress" the process of decay has gone too far for seeing anything on the blade itself. (a lot of it is allready gone).

But yeh, definatly a keeper. Eventhough the poor state of it. Sad thing that the plastic(?) shaft is broken.
I think i'll have a closer look there some day.. see if there is more.

And thanks for the help. tally'ho from norway

Some WD-40 might be able to remove some of the rust, but aye, any ingravings on that blade are probably lost to the sands of time.
