This is a rant about self healers. Turn back now!

Self healers have me tearing my hair out by the hand full. Medic is my favorite perk, and these people have me considering giving up playing it all together! Here are the types I come across:

1. The "HOLY FUDGE" self healer: Its the heat of battle. They take a bunch of damage, to which I promptly respond. I pump them with two needles that set them to full health in a second or two. So what do they do? They drop back with their syringe out, trying to self heal! Despite the fact that their health bar has been full for nearly 10 seconds, and our lines are being overrun. They completely ignore my cries of "I have your heals dude! Keep killing! I can only assume that these players have poor situational awareness. I can forgive this type of self healer at the end of the day, even if they do cause squad wipes quite often for me. It is usually the inexperienced players that pull this one. The next type is totally unforgivable.

2. The "Screw Medics" self healer. Its near the end of the wave, around 20 specimens left. Said self healer is at 80-ish or so health points. There is a lull in the combat, no imminent threat from any side. Said self healer watches me approach them from the front with syringe out (keep in mind, I am a medic), so what do they do? Whip out their syringe and heal themselves!! They are usually level four or above. Players that have the experience to know that they can rely on the medic in front of them for heals, but they heal themselves anyway out of pure selfishness.

3. "Trader Time" self healers: 'nuff said. Players unwilling for whatever reason to let other people heal them during trader time.

4. The "Screw Team Play" self healer: The cream of the crop right here ladies and gents. I'm a medic, as always. I get surrounded by specimens. Too many for me to carve my way out with my mp7. I look to my fellow support/commando squad mate with their tier three weapons to help me out. They promptly self heal the 10 points they needed, and turn tail and run leaving me to my doom. Just, wow. Thats all I can say.

I just had all of these self healers in the same squad. Like I said, I'm thinking of turning away from the medic for good. What do they need me for if they are just going to consistently heal themselves anyway? Something needs to be done about this.

Rant over.

I've never done the screw medics self healing or any of these, the only time I do self healing is if a medic is not around or busy helping others. I have a habit of forgetting sometimes and hitting q as a force of habit as not having medics around is a thing I always find. If you want, PM me on here and you can add me as a friend, if you're ever playing and wanna work medic, let me know, I'm in the final level grind of berserker but have been putting off working it because I don't always have a good medic that can keep me healthy lol. All my other perks are at 6, and berserker is at 5 so I'm wasting time with anything else .

The medic is doom, the only place you can be a medic is in a good team, or just keep near the those who really need a medic or just want one.
Being a medic is hard, not impossible. Keep healing.

I'm only a level 1 Berserker at the moment, but I'll admit I'm kind of prone to the top one >.<

If I get bashed on a heap, I'll try and whip out my syringe and give myself a little bit of a refill, and sometimes it takes me a few seconds to realize a medic is trying to heal me/has healed me.

I generally spend the rest of the game apologizing, as they could have been healing someone else >.<.

Hopefully as I play the game more I'll learn to do this less ^^

Sorry if you've played a game with me and I've hampered your Killing Floor time!

I'm sure it wasn't you. Most of these people aren't considerate enough to apologize.

Besides, it was just a rant. I'm done and over with this complaint until it happens again :p

you forgot about the 'must get the most kills no matter what and don't have the time to go back to the rest of the team where the medic is because someone else might get some of my kills' self-healer. those are the worst. and then when they get overrun and almost die they run back to the team and expect help from everyone including the medic. of course, half the time they don't live

I typically self-heal only when I'm alone or no one else is a medic/has the consideration to heal a team mate who is bleeding the **** out. Though I have now and then self-healed during a lull out of reflex (keeping health at 100 is something I do in lulls, like reloading so my mags in all my guns are always topped off) only to realize a medic (or someone with a syringe) was going to heal me. I always feel like a jerk and apologize.

you can add those kind of players that choose to get medic perk because of its advantages (fast regenerating health, godly armor, turbo boost sprint) only to use it to combat specimens! i call this 'fighting medics' also the selfish player type..

i can assure you that fighting alongside them wont do you any good as they're too focused on themselves only and they wont notice your critically low hp and on the verge of dying in front or beside them.. you can see them armed to the teeth with X-bows, Katana, Shotguns and SCAR but no MP-7!

Fortunately, I have several really good medics on my friends list. I will self heal only if I don't have a medic, and all my teammates are healed. Generally, I don't worry about it when I am playing, because on HoE, you will quickly find out if your medic is good enough or not. Don't worry about the self healers, your syringe recharges much faster than them, and they can only give themselves 20 hp at a time.

Level 5 Medic here myself, first Level 5 perk.

I can agree with all points, yet 1-3 is usually because people aren't USED to Medics.

People aren't USED to teamwork, go figure. :(

If the team is horrible, become a medzerker. Or meddemo. Or 'damn you all, I'll do this alone' guy.

The first one carries katana, MP7M and lever action and acts as an ordinary berserker, with the ability to heal people when they really need it.

The second one carries M79, M32 and medic gun. If more firepower is needed, your perk is demo, and still you can heal people with syringe/medgun. If quick heals are priority, stick to medic perk, grenades will still be good for trash mobs. It's great on HoE if your team is good enough.

The third one is my favourite when you team sucks. The gear is katana, M79, Handcannon (duals in later waves) and MP7M. First I try to keep them alive as long as I can, only healing and occasionally lobbing grenades if some fool gets himself surrounded, but when the last one dies, well - it's time to go to work and finish the wave alone.

After xbow nerf there is little point of getting Xbow and medic gun, but that's still ok to snipe husks and sirens before they damage anyone - but that is also perfectly doable with LAR. I've seen also medics with hunting shotgun that rushed to soak the damage from raging FP/Scrakes while unloading the barrels - but that severely reduced their life expectancy.

I see that medic's participation in fight brings a lot of controversy, but as long as healing and protecting your teammates is your priority, no one should complain.

But, your not keeping in mind when either A) There is no medic or B) Your medic is an asshole and is only playing it "for the armour".

This also brings me to another idea should have: When you press M1 with your syringe out, it should say a special line saying that your trying to heal them. Could just be something like "Get ya arse over here! Your fallin' apart!" or "C'mere, I'll fix ya up."

It also really annoys me when I'm playing as Medic, someone gets hurt and then another teammate stops fighting zeds to go and heal him. Let me do my job, guys.

I do that a lot because I've gotten used to crappy pub-medics who run around with shotguns or katana. XD

Yeah, and also I just think it's a help to medics sometimes if they are trying to heal one area and are not around and I can pop syringe out and heal a person that needs a little.

In defense of the medics without a MP7 slotted.

I run a low level medic and I skip the mp7 myself. My aiming is horriable in shooter games so I stick to the hand injector.I keep a Katana as my main weapon(right after armor is bought and repaired, katana is next)

I find the alt fire meathod of the mp7 clumsy, and with bad aim to begin with...lets just say im usually quicker at just getting to your side, hitting you with a needle and scooting to the next guy.

Sure the MP7 is handy and useful in the right hands. Its a liability in mine.
mmmmm almost time to start some more rounds.
