Not sure if this has been covered before, but i did a search beforehand and didn't find it.

But what are the factors involved in the husks aiming process?
I'm guessing it's who it's taking damage from or closest to.
But is there a different thing that triggers the accurate shots, instead of the rediculously way off shots that you sometimes see?

Any help you lot can give will be appreciated :p

Well, assuming I understand you correctly, there are two things I've noted regarding the husks aiming.

1. Target Acquisition
  • It considers every player in its line of sight, and shoots the one closest to itself
  • When line of sight to its current target is lost, it reevaluates the previous

2. Aiming
  • If you go into single player (0 ping ), you'll notice that the best way to avoid his shots is to be in the air (on your way up, or at the apex of your jump) right when he pulls the trigger. Adjust for different pings accordingly.
  • Jumping is only effective at medium to close ranges.
  • At long distances, strafe back and forth.

He seems to lead his target, so simply changing direction when he fires at you should be enough to avoid the fireball, as long as there's enough time to get out of the way.

Yes this is exactly what i've noticed, but i was kinda more wondering about what is the spread on the husks gun? as in.. do they take pot shots at random and they just happen to get more accurate as they get closer

OR

Do they have seperate Potshot and aimed shot actions?

I'm pretty sure the Husk is always completely accurate. But note that he tries to fire under you much of the time, he is using an "explosive" weapon.

He does lead quite well, if he's an extremely long distance away I simply jump to the right as he fires, then run left afterwards. Watch as it misses around 30 feet to your right (farm, west london occasionally) The problem is that he'll usually hit a wall behind you, or aim at your feet. Or you don't see him coming. My guess is that they aim for the bones of your feet/legs rather than your head/chest to maximise hit probability.

As Xebo said, jumping works well at medium range, but there's a bit of a random factor in how they aim. Sometimes, if you're standing still, you can watch a bolt fly right past your head, and other times they'll hit you in the foot directly. Jumping increases the odds of dodging drastically, as they'll likely fire behind or above you. The idea summed up here is to run around like a chicken with your head cut off, and spam the spacebar.

In my case it's extremely hard on multi, even with a low ping. Sorta the way a berserker can rush a siren and decap her before she screams on solo, but takes 2 - 3 hits on multi, even if she doesn't scream.

I've always wondered about that. Sometimes I'm able to cut a Siren down before she can attack, but it's awfully dodgy.

Agreed. Most often than not even if you kill the Siren early on, it still somehow damages you a tad bit.
