They're gonna say 'ah....so THIS is what I've been missing.' Those people are out there. Take it from me, I was one.
Missing what, you haven't played RO2 yet.

Fans of MW2, BF2, or Arma2 aren't expecting to go back to Ostfront, they've already played games with destructible environments, smooth animation, contemporary visuals, rank-up systems, multiple game modes, squad commands, or global stat tracking, and the new FPS releases coming out are just going to continue the process.

So fans of the contempary shooters will find a lot about RO2 familiar already. It's the new game feature like the MP campaign mode where RO2 looks to be most innovative for an FPS title, and no one outside of TWI's operatives have played this yet, so cut the "I know what people are missing" BS, because you're as green to any new RO2 gameplay as any other FPS fan will be.

Lets hope there's not a problem here, because better accessibility has been TWI's RO2 goal. (?)

Hey man...all I'm saying is I know plenty of CoD and DoD players who for whatever reason....they just HATE RO:Ost. And RO:HoS probably isn't going to change that for a lot of them. But with (hopefully) RO:HoS being marketed and sold to a wider audience, there's going to be an infusion of fresh players to the RO scene. Some will like what it is, some will go back to DoD Orange maps. That's all. For people who (STILL) play DoD and UO, but who might be looking for something WAY better...RO:HoS might be it...like RO:Ost was for me years ago. That's all I'm sayin....no need to call me out for BS...no need to act like a prick.

And I know combat veterans who enjoy playing COD titles over RO, so it aint about realism.

From one prick to another. :D

Way to state the obvious.. that we all have our own opinions... almost ground breaking news and best of all you based it on some veterans...

I've been in the army as well but no wars, and i ain't 60+ is my input still valid..?
I'm a clanning cod player, i love RO , IL2, DCS though I dislike Arma since it's the most bogged down game ever with a horrible netcode. We all have our own preferences, and there is no thin red line for this or that end of story.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty obvious too, but some fans will argue "mine's bigger than yours" all over the net.

I'll take that arguement any day. :D

Right on...exactly. I think we both see that personal preferences are just that. I'm not knocking CoD or DoD "type" players, as I myself have enjoyed both those games immensely. A good game of DoD is fun in ways that RO can't be, and vice versa. It's just that I prefer RO when all is said and done. And I believe from what I've seen so far RO:HoS will continue that preference.

My main point is that all gaming communities should be cautious of being too insular. We can't let a 'we were here first' or 'you wanna sell the game to THOSE guys...oh crap' attitude get in the way of bringing people into the game. Some of whom will stay, some of whom will not....and either way it's all good.

Well that's worth a greenie (ought to be a sticky).

If RO2 gets as popular as we hope, then I'd be getting prepared for "Invasion of the Body Snatchers", because insular will be the obsolete.

While COD/CS tends to attract idiots and morons, we can't rule out the mature communities from other games. TWI needs dosh and every penny counts in the end. Yea, I'm sure we will have our wave of tkers/noobs.

However, in the end, it may be for the better. For idiots and tkers, we have SERVER ADMINS. They wield the mighty ban hammer and keep servers clean. Servers that are efficiently and fairly admined will be the servers that will thrive. For new players, We all all started as newbs.

We have to reach out and expand if RO2 is to be successful.

I'm sure in the first few weeks will get like every other game - the idiots and team killers etc, there not exclusive to any one game, all games have em, had one on RO the other day myself was team wounding in spawn on TWB server

But it will drop off, hopefully we will pull some of the more established dod and cod clans over - that mean more players, more well admin servers and more choice for the casual players too.
