In RO:HOS when your German and someone is on your team you hear english, the enemy speaks Russian but when your Russian your allies speak english and you hear German from the enemy.

I LOVED that.

but how is rising storm accomplishing this considering one side already speaks english?

pig Latin?

Yeah this is something I'm also wondering. If it went down the route of simply having Japanese voices be in Japanese, and not be in English just with Japanese accents, then I wouldn't mind that much.

I find it useful in RO2 to be able to understand what the German and Russians are shouting, but even so I've never found it vital to know, the vital things like 'Granate' are obvious to anyone anyway. I know the Japanese for 'Grenade' won't be as easily recognisable because it isn't a European language, but even so once we've heard it a few times being yelled, and then an explosion in the room, we'll figure it out.

I hear that the Rising Storm guys aren't going to do any voice acting localization
(think of all the lines they would have to record for each language the game can be in!)

I like the Heroes of Stalingrad system but I liked the Ostfront system as well. The voices are mostly atmospheric anyway, it seems that most important information and commands come from other sources

it's probably something like guranaidu or something, from my school experience there are a scary number of loanwords in japanese. pinku anyone?

From memory of the recordings of Masashi & Junichi we did yesterday, the word is not guranaidu.. although if it were to be a loan word that is almost certainly how it would be pronounced.

Difficult to remember exactly what it was - we did so many commands.

I'd kill to see a video of them doing the voices, must have been really fun! :')

Masashi, in particular, was great fun to work with.

But the death sounds by all 3 of the actors were anything but fun - rather harrowing to be honest. :(

The Japanese word for hand grenade is "shuryuudan"
But when throwing a frag I don't think a soldier would yell that, maybe just "touteki!" (throwing)
shuryuudan also kind of a mouthful, so when on the receiving end I'm not sure what you'd say.

I think the Self Defense Force today just says "gurene-do" but I seriously doubt the IJA used that loan word.

That sounds really good.
どけ、手榴弾いくぞ!
"Get out of the way, I'm throwing a frag!"
It makes perfect sense in that context.
