I've noticed people experiencing this problem occuring a lot so I'm just gonna say this for reference.

DON'T SET KILLING FLOOR TO RUN WITH SOFTWARE DRIVERS.

It breaks killing floor. And then you have to delete your system folder to reset it (not the only method to fix it but the simplest to understand) It's in the list underneath Direct 3D 9 and Direct 3D. If you've made this mistake you know what i'm talking about.

Hope this saves people the trouble in the future. ;)

This works sometimes, but not always. So far deleting the entire system folder is the only solution that works 100% of the time for this kind of problem.

The rendering method is listed in the .ini file described in the above thread.
If you have to delete the whole directory I think you have screwed up something, big time. :)

Has anyone tried deleting the files in the Steam\steamapps\common\killingfloor\Cache -directory?

The cache directory should have nothing to do with this issue. It is where content goes that you download when you join a server.

If you delete your cache folder, all that you did is delete all of the custom content you've downloaded...(the only reason to ever do this, is if you have conflicting files)

If you delete your system folder, it basically resets everything to default, upon completing a "game cache validation". In rare cases, it might do more harm that good.

If you delete only your KillingFloor.ini, there's less to go wrong...

Bingo. Just clear out KillingFloor.ini. The game will make a new one when you run it again.

I don't see why folks keep putting it in Software mode anyway. All I've EVER seen it do is instantly brick KF until the .ini is cleared...

I've just retry to do that ...

Me its have work 1 time for 5 try ... Yeaqh i have some time to lose ...

Anyway a great thing to do is make a back-up of killing floor on a cd or dvd ( with steam u can do it ... )

After if you accidently put to software or jsuta stupid friend change option like that ( yeha i got one firned like that ) ... just delete the killing floor game with steam and reinstall with the back up cd u make with steam ... take 5 minutes to install and the killing floor is ready to be play ... just need some update someetime ...
