I have voted 40$, but I would prefer it to cost about 30$...(I was going to be the first one ).I wouldn't mind to pay 40$ since 40$ are not 40

In a perfect world where I was rich and could afford it, I would pay upwards of 100$+ to support such an amazing project and development team.

However realistically, I would only pay 30$-40$ for it and be very happy to be able to play.

I'd be more interested in a poll like this on a CoD fansite that is just getting to hear about RO2 now. A more valuable question for the official forums is what the price should be because we already know most of us would pay a price that would make terrible business sense.

Ignoring the business sense aspect and assuming RO2 will be at least as good as Ostfront, I'd pay 100+.

Considering what the price should be, I agree with OneDuck and say $40. In the age of Steam, I don't think the argument that more money = higher quality holds anymore. There is a growing distinction between indie games and budget games. The marketplace of either $50 for a new game or $20-$30 for a budget game isn't really the norm anymore and we're saying prices all over the range of $10-$60. At $50-$60 there is too much of a risk for your average joe video game player to try something new when he knows he might be disappointed. $40 seems like a perfect number to let people know they're getting an indie game that's different than what they're used to but that it's a quality made indie game.

EDIT: I would say $50 is still a viable option only if there is a great marketing push backing the release. If it gets lots of attention in the media then people would be more willing to risk moving away from their franchises. However, considering TW is a smaller company, I don't think they have enough funds needed for the necessary amount of exposure to price RO2 at the commonly accepted mainstream price.

lets not forget everyone likes 10% off preorder, $45 for a $50 game seems good to me... and free weekends. the game does not need to be dirt cheap, some will play full price and the ones that dont will get it cheaper on a free weekend.

I guess there is a difference of what I would pay, what I think it will be worth, and what TWI should charge.

Quite honestly, I would pay $59 for the game. If it is as good as ROOST (or close to it), it will be worth upwards of $100. However, I really wouldn't pay that much for it, just because it would be obnoxious if TWI charges that much. However, we know they won't ;)

Realistically, they should probably charge $39 - $49 as the regular price, with perhaps a preorder sale and the usual special Steam sales. I think the arguments made about indie and budget games, and Steam distribution will put ROHOS price right around there. Higher than that and I think you might scare away some of that new market that TWI is hoping to grab; they would rather grab a more mainstream title first at that price. Of course, that is until they hear just how awesome the game is.

If you wouldn't pay full price for the game I don't see why you're hanging around these forums in the first place..

$40 is the sweet spot and optimum price point I believe. People tend to forget that most gamers, PC or otherwise, tend to see indies much more demanding than they see mainstream gamers. Gamers won't mind paying $60 for a crap game but they will not touch a $20 indie if it isn't filled with tons of features and playability.

Since HoS is a huge project, perhaps the biggest indie project made in the past years, $40 will attract both the mainstream games, those who tend to see indie games in a more demanding way than mainstream games and indie gamers. Price it more and people will rather buy a crap but known series than bet on an unknown one.

And pricing the game for less is a good idea, it's one of the major fallacies in economical theory that the lower you price it the lower regards consumers have for a product. Games are not Veblen goods and will not act like a Veblen good if you increase its price.

Could not agree more, you have to try and attract both markets, the masses still have this mental block against AAA indie games, it must be placed at 40 dollars. Any lower off the bat and people will assume its no good.

$50 with a 10% pre-order discount and OF to play right away. We will all pre-order and give OF to a friend whom will get addicted and pre-order so the cycle continues...

I really only say $50 because of a retail price. So it would be $5 off and i am willing to pay $5 for steam as a service... for any game.

Well, it should obviously be free, but if Tripwire can't meet that demand, then I suppose $50 is a reasonable price.

i'd pay $35-40 for preorder. my guess is retail will be around the $45-50 range, possibly a "collectors boxed edition" in the $55-60 range.

I don't mind the price. I am getting the game twice anyway. Since I don't want to buy the Chinese version and can't wait until I am back home, I am buying it via Steam as soon as available. When back in GER, I am buying the Collector's Edition to give the game to my brother and take the package for myself... I am a collector....
