Are the models in this game all one big object? Or can they be made of seperate objects? If you have no idea what I am talking about, I could never ask this question with the right words to have it make sense.
nah, static meshes like map assets are usually single objects,
tanks for example usually consist of several objects (actually about 6 several models are needed for a tank. hull, turret, collision model, turret interior, driver interior, destroyed model)
Static meshes can of course be more than one object, I just wouldnt advise you to make one brick and then build a house out of it in the map
No, you answered my question quite well actually. What I was asking is, how many different objects, as called in the 3d program, can the tank be made of, which you answered, 2, hull and turret. Those are the ones I am really concerned about right now. After I get those done, I will worry about the rest heh.

For the static 'scenery' tanks you will see littered around the battle field, they are just 1 StaticMesh object. You don't have to do it this way if you don't want.. but it's how most of the existing stuff is.
In your 3d program, you can make them however many parts you want (good for posing the model!), then just export it as 1 single object into the editor..
Now, if you are doing a drivable / usable vehicle, as they are in-game now, there are usually 4+ models/animation rigs for each vehicle.. and it's a whole other ball of wax..
