I listen to a different soundtrack.

I think the music for KF is fine, it works with the theme. There's just other music I prefer more for getting my kill on. I've got a synthwave playlist I usually listen to for FPS, because I like the BPM and RPM to be roughly equivalent ;)

Currently I have it at max ingame slider volume same as the SFX, and I enjoy it thoroughly. I can't help but execute everything when lifewar is on!

However I have a massive music collection of all genres and I always apply it to my games. A favourite was Tchaikovsky's 1812 overture finale when playing as TF2's heavy, for example.

I'll likely use that again, which is a mix of metal, classical, DnB, dub, reggae, ska, there's quite a bit for every genre in there.

Mostly play with music off because I like hearing the sound effects clearly. Sometimes I turn the music on when i'm relaxed or playing casually with many players. The music doesn't really pump me up but it does make the game less boring when I've played too much KF2 at a time.

And Dance of the Dead are among some of my favs too. Haven't heard Carpenter Brut but will check it out.

Edit

Oh wait, yes I have heard of them. I think they contributed to the Hotline Miami 2 Soundtrack.

That's another one, the soundtrack from both the hotline miami games fits very well too, especially when you're using a shovel of course!

off, with a proper mix of DnB, Death and Trash metal with a dash of oldschool Grindcore (FUKKIN CARCASS!) and PSY TRANCE! (preferably the darker stuff)

I listened to the in-game music for the first few hours, then switched to my own soundtrack. Loud, but still able to hear the SFX with a punch.

Some examples:
Acid King
Om
Sleep
Bongripper
Ahab
Sasquatch
Electric Wizard
Wo Fat

etc etc.

It's all preference. And speaking of preference, or more precisely -- customization.

I think vocal/lyrics should be separated from the instruments, and they each has a volume setting of their own.

Plus, I really want the ability to customize soundtrack list, including adding our own custom tracks.

I keep it balanced with vocals on. Normally I don't like vocals that much, but when I'm playing KF2, it just kinda clicks.

I try to keep it balanced out with everything else, hoping Collapsing comes on.

That or have it off with Black Sun Empire tracks playing. I love DnB.

As a side note, can you edit the in-game playlist to play the songs you want to hear the most?

When I learn how, I'll be making a music pack with BSE

I'll either go no music or listen to my own large variety of nonsensical music. As I do with most games.

Listening to Mark Morrison's "Return Of The Mack" while hacking away at zeds is pretty satisfying

I play without music. Not because of any immersion factor, I'd just prefer to play without it. Did the same thing in KF1.
