Nope. It's not a requirement. During my life, my parents have never owned, borrowed, or rented a manual transmission car. I know of only 2 or 3 people that even have them. It's remarkably rare here...

I want to learn, but I have no access to one. But I will say, driving my TDI in semi-auto mode is fun.

Automatic transmission is a lot more comfortable, but it takes away all the fun of driving. Learning how to handle the manual transmission is mandatory in our driving schools, in fact, is the most difficult part of the driving lessons. Driving lessons are usually harder than normal driving as they give us 1.0 weak cars and some don't even have power steering. At least that kinda prepares us to drive all kinds of cars, but is also one of the main reasons most people fail the driving test at least once (you can only take it after you are 18). I was lucky I passed it in the first time I took it, but most people I know have failed once :D

Well Hungary is a pile of fail. A right wing and a christian party has 2/3rds in the Pairlament so they can do whatever they like. They passed more than 200 laws last year and even made a new constitution. Yay!

Oh and we have to get additional loans from EU/IMF or we will go bankrupt.

Plus the usual Balkan/ Eastern European things: Low life ratings, Gypsies stealing everything they can, irredentism, corruption and so on.

Anyone from Slovenia? Was there 2 years ago and it was a great place, I'll might emigrate to there after I finish University.

I take a "the more complex the machine, the more about it can break" approach to cars. The fewer there is in terms of electronics and automatons, the less money I'll have to spend on repairs... ;)

I'm in a part of Victoria that's a little while North-ish of Melbourne.

It's basically a nice place, though being bogan central.

The weather is so mad it should be in Arkham. Either hot, cold, rainy, or windy. It's unpredictable too.

Used to live in Melbourne while studying - Hawthorn and Camberwell more precise. Great place to live, friendly polite people, good food & nightlife. I miss Australia, was a good time traveling around there.

Weather was fine, nice and warm in summer and rainy and grey in winter which kind of suited me fine. Used to cycle up the Yarra to Westerfolds park.

Went to an AFL game with Essendon and got a woolen cap with "Bombers" in big letters, I loved that :)
Great radio in Melbourne too - RRR, JJJ, PBS. Lotsa good music.

The automatic transmission is for the weak. The pro drivers always use manual so they can use the car as they want!

The youths here act like wiggers and chavs for the most part.

I swear a saw a little kid no more than 10 with a backwards hat, some kind of name-brand shirt and a gold-coloured chain around his neck.

I'm sure Melbourne is better than here, though i've heard that a few Sydneysiders are arrogant ponces.

With the pants halfway down? Get a chainsaw and chase him with it revving then laugh your *** off at the waddle run effect, followed by the inevitable fall flat on face when his pants fall down.

While the subject is on women, this is where being a country that welcomes immigrants and is made up of mostly immigrants is nice. All those other countries have their one flavour, but Canada is the place with all the flavors in one place.

I live in Israel. Most people have funny ideas what this country is like, most are wrong. The problems, the real daily problems we have in Israel are rarely reported// people find them unintresting.
Israel is roughly built around few major metropolitian centers and the further you go from the center, usually, the poorer it gets. As everyone want to live in the center greedy landlords give crazy rent//crazy apartment prices and tons of people cant efford it, still try and go bankrupt.
This is one of the main reason for the massive demonstrations that took place here, occupy wallstreet style, for lowering the living prices. This ofcourse failed miserably.
2nd problem is the religion issue, Israel is a semi-secular state, there is no seperation between the state and religion in the common sense of the word. There are rules which supposingly try to savour the jewish-culture and those always create a big debate. The othrodox jews are one of the greatest problem (those people dressed in black), they are about 10% of the people but they are more organized then any other minority, in a day they can gather by their thousands and rally for whatever they believe in. This makes them extremely powerful and lately they have been trying to force their primitive rules on the more secular population and there is alot of tension.
The Palestinian issue is mostly ignored, events when they take place, are so boring that they usually make it to the last pages of the newspaper. People just dont care and are extremely indifferent to this.

when world war 2 started. and the attack of norway began. germans tried to scare us to reatreat with on of their biggest ships which was suppose to be undestroyable. norway awzm as they are. we destroyed their ship with outdated cannons from 1910.

this is suppose to be a fair warning for everyone trying to attack us in the future. even if you have the most badass anti laser shields in the world. our lazers will still hit you. even if its outdated from the 2012's
