Well, aside from the obvious "official" bugs (unlocks, stats) I didn't haven much trouble playing the game. Once I found my "methods" and proper settings, that is.

So now I found settings that allow smooth gameplay and since I found them, only one crash in 3 hours of gaming. I also sort servers by ping. There is always a map in the range of ping < 100. And that's absolutely playable. I found (and I guess others as well) that 32 players appear to be the sweet spot. Fine by me.

So all in all I had 3 crashes at the most today. No critical problems with the graphics, no major glitches... I am a happy Panda :p

Was just banned from a server for "hacking".

Let me explain

I was playing russians but because there were too many I was auto-balanced and ended up on the axis side, Once I spawned I started to mow russians down like nobodys business killing them by the hoards I Be leave I had acquired around 20 kills within 5 mins, and nobody was shooting back at me! I thought to myself I am awsome! no russians can stop me! Then finally as all good must come to and end, I was killed.

I then noticed my character had a russian skin..........

5 seconds later
I was banned for hacking.....

Probably played less than a hour, but spent over two messing around with settings and raging when game crashed. I am sure TWI is going to spray away all the bugs. Gameplay is great. Can't wait to see more weapons and maps. oh cant forget about the free user created maps. Game has A LOT of potential. I have trust in TWI.

My main concern is performance, yes i know fix(es) are coming soon. I wanna be able to hold 60 fps with ultra settings. I know my rig is capable of doing so.

Most of the day was spent at work, but I got off work 3 hours early and jumped into the game when I got home.

To my surprise, while I knew the Beta would vanish from my Steam, the full version RO2 kept all my settings from the beta.

I jumped on to play the Single Player. I was impressed with the atmosphere they created between the matches.... I loved how they made the narration for both teams to be not over the top. They speak like regular humans, regular soldiers, talking about the battles, quotes from real soldiers, the method on how they drag you into the atmosphere of the Eastern Front was done much better than what you get from most other video games, where they make you sound like you're invincible and that you alone will win the war for your country..... though in some video games, that's the case

Sure it had its propaganda graphics and feel to the videos, but that was the era..... and while most other games go overboard with the propaganda feel, RO2 seems to stick to a realistic approach & feel, where they pump you up for the battle, make it feel like what you're about to do is going to be run of the mill routine work.... but at the same time, not to get too confident as the enemy is well trained, very formidable and desperate.

There was almost a level of respect between the two sides towards one another..... almost.

The optimism you have in your troops and your country, and then they cold reality setting in later on.

It's not all hollywood super-glorified like some other games, like BF:BC2 Single Player or CoD SP..... Sure you have people trying to pump their team up before a battle..... but they're still seasoned, experienced and grounded to reality.

I've been only playing them on recruit so far.... which is pretty easy, but they have given me a run for my money once or twice while I was defending..... and their arty strikes seem to be accurately brutal as I think they killed me with arty more than they ever did with melee or bullets.

Played a few matches online before the day was over.... everything is running pretty well.

A few minor problems:

The arty strikes started to lag me up while online, but that had to do with me bumping a video setting up a little which I have to drop back down in order to smooth things out like they were before..... otherwise there's no issue with lag.

It's already been addressed and mentioned yesterday that my DDE unlocks are not available and my stats do not seem to be saving when I jump to another server.... but those will be fixed soon enough I imagine.

Other than that, everything works just fine and I'm enjoying the game very much, thanks for asking

I played quite a lot today.

I gotta admit I love the game so far. There are definitelly those performance issues which will no doubt be taken care of. But if I put them to side and talk about the gameplay I'm really quite happy. I bought RO1 3 months ago just because I'm kind of a WW2 junky and desperatelly wanted to like it. But the game was kinda hard for me to really get into. Had no real atmosphere to it. Happy to say RO2 is completely different. I'm shooting people like crazy with the bolt action rifles and the shooting mechanics are absolutely wonderful, feels so rewarding to pop someone from a big distance.

SMG's are amazingly well balanced now, the reoil is controlable in coordination to reality. You gotta admit that PPSH recoil in RO1 was freaking ridiculous. When watching YouTube clips of people shooting the real PPSH it's obvious the recoil is substantialy lower. So I'm happy about that.

MG recoil is just as it's supposed to be IMO. I saw a thread where someone said it's a bit too much but I disagree. Shooting in bursts gets the job done.

Sniping is fun but I prefer the iron sights so I avoid the marksman class.

The only thing im unhappy about is tank warfare. It's kinda boring TBH :/

Anyway, performance issues aside, the game is amazing.

Great! After the initial graphics glitches I managed to sort it all out and the game runs amazing. Hell every time I go into the game and play I'm like "WOAH! WHAT WAS THAT??!?!?? WOW!! HOLY CHEESE!!" it's just excited. My first melee kill was certainly the most exciting thing I've felt while playing vidyagames in awhile

Well for me personally, the DP28's recoil is just fine, but when the MG34 is mounted, even when I burst shot, it seems like the entire gun jumps like a grasshopper.

Mounted MG's are just fine, the DP28 works just fine.... but the MG34 does seem a bit excessive in recoil..... it's recoil was always fine in the mod and RO1, but then here in RO2, it's a lot more difficult to iron sight it mounted and seems to work better when firing from the hip.

The only thing im unhappy about is tank warfare. It's kinda boring TBH :/

Well I felt like that since the UT2k4 mod.... I love the tanks, and I love using them and blowing them up, but if it's only tanks against tanks with no troops on the ground.... it does get a little..... um..... "Limiting" in enjoyment.

The Gumrak campaign level was really fun though, because there are SO many tanks you never want for targets.

But I have to agree. I like tanking and I like the team work, but most friends I try to bring into tanks with me go about one life and say "Sorry man, I'd rather play infantry, these things are slow and boring for most of the time you're in them."

Were you on a PB server, and blacklisted because of said ban? That would piss me off so bad lol.

Had about an hour to play, after a couple of hours spent downloading, installing (wondering where my mkb 42 was? ;)) and then getting the graphics right so it played smooth with full 64 players. Finished the training mission, the target practice is handy for getting use to how many meters away things are, when they look about 1km away. Died heaps on the first mission, I had it set to hero and kept getting artillery'd (even that was awesome!). And the bots use cover now, instead of jumping like in RO1 haha
That was 2 nights ago and I get to play it again tomorrow!!! So eager to get back on the simulated battlefield :IS2:

I'm just hoping for some quick patches to fix all this crashing. It's an amazingly fun game to play, when it doesn't crash on me...

Didnt play today as much as i wanted too..but what i did see was lots of solo rambo attempts...non communicative commanders....plenty of team killing etc

In essence what i expected i guess, as everyone gets used to the game again

In the last few dats of beta i had some excellent battles as folks relaxed into the game a bit.

The maps play out so differently when you have 2 competent teams.Still give it a few days and the better team players and servers will emerge.

Oh and i just gotta say OP that lego tank is the most awesome piece of lego ive ever seen i want one NOW :)

Well, just finished my first session of RO2. I'm an RO1 veteran since 2005, playing with small pauses to this very day. It seems I will be forced to continue playing RO1/DH well into the 2020s...

Nothing works in RO2.... Nothing. Sure, it loads, yes the intro plays well, but beyond that, not one single thing functions properly.

I could not load the game control, audio, and many other menus. The server list loaded initially and then disappeared permanently and would not return with the refresh function. I could not order the servers according to population level. When I did manage to find a populated server the first thing I noticed was the extreme system lag and pathetic FPS.

The terrain and character models look better but their interaction is cartoonish and completely unrefined with extreme clipping and hesitation/jerkiness in the movements. Not at all realistic. The weapon models look nice, but the firing reports are toyish and subdued, nothing compared to the feel of the violence and spontaneity of a real gun shot. In this respect, RO1 is superior as well. Beyond that, the movement feels coarse and imprecise, the sounds are awful and muffled, there is no immersion in combat like with RO1, the suppression system does not work, the last stand feature is pandering to the console kiddies and overall gameplay feels closer to COD4.

And of course performance, on my strongly mid-range PC is appalling.

My disappointment is extreme and I am by no means a fanatical nitpicker. I really don't know what it would take to salvage this game..

ETA: I did not even try the single player mode, I have no interest in it whatsoever.

Spent my first day trying to get the bugger to run with fair graphics at a fair frame rate. I think I have now got it the best that I can, but it's not good, and should be much better.

I must have lucked out. I've had no real problems during the Beta and now, after playing last night and this evening, I've had a great time and no issues as all.

I'm a happy little elf! :D

I started the training mission and played the first two single player maps and was pretty disappointed with the crummy framerate however I was enjoying the game and could see its potential. I then felt I had the hang of the controls and went online.

Online play was a different kettle of fish altogether, wasn't sure what to do, killed a fair few team mates in my first few games, was amazed at the super high pings, loved the lethality of the weapons and the sound production including the voices. As the day went on and I played more and more I enjoyed it more and more, especially maps I had some idea of.
I don't think I succesfully aimed a grenade through a window or hole in the floor all day except when I was right next to them, I kept dying instantly when hitting unmarked borders of the map or actually spawning on squad leaders into these zones and insta dying which was really annoying.
I had problems in the t34 being unable to swap positions or do anything in the tank. By the end of it though I was loving it and can really see the potential of the game and the awesome maps once people know what they're doing.

All the positives are with the core gameplay and all my negatives are bugs that can be fixed or tweaked. The only exception is insta dying on territory maps when the area you were assaulting is no longer the front line and suddenly you insta die. This is a frustrating mechanic of the game.

edit: Oh and the game crashed 10+ times today, usually when in the server menu but also at other random times in game.

All in all I see myself playing this game for a very long time.
