Are there any Russians here that can tell us of how RO2 was received in Russia?

I am curious to know I suppose how it was received in both Russia and Germany?

In germany I cant really say because I dont know any people who play RO in person.
I recommend it sometimes but they are always like "blbala battlefield bla"

But I think the RO community in germany is rather big

Its just that hear I imagine most are American/British and other English speaking peoples primarily. So it would be hard to gauge.

I am curious because we always hear such slammers here from the nay sayers.
What say you Russians and Germans? Are the servers full and the grass greener in the original combatants lands?

Guess you don't visit redorchestra.ru community servers that often then, huh? Join the fight there ;) Hard to miss, because there's usually more than one server full all the time.

I visited russian servers from time to time, they are (were) quite populated. The main diffrence was that the Allied side was stacked almost each map and round unlike any other western servers usually stacking axis.

RO2 went retail last week in Germany, so there will be a few new players from over here. In my hometown ( less than 100k living here) I personally know 4 guys playing RO2.

As a member of the Russian community RO :D I can say the following:
RO has become popular among us thanks to the theme of the eastern front, i think many realize. Many russians long time ago bored of landing on the beaches of Normandy again and again. When RO ost - it was something fresh and new to the genre of FPS about WWII, the game would still dedicated exclusively to the Great Patriotic War. Very many russian gamers gamers like it.
Steam group "Red orchestra Russia" at the present moment consist of more than 4 thousand people.

When I say popular, I mean, popular for the community, because the game in 2006-07, was little known. I found her by chance at the end of 2007, and before I bought it, I knew nothing about it. From the moment I have not played another FPS, except RO and mods.

Ro2 community is divided into parts, the old players are not very happy with the change of gameplay to the incorrect direction. Part of the guys is left and are unlikely to return to the RO2 because of this, others are waiting for the right Realism mode. A lot of new players seem happy with everything, but that's because they was not played RO ost front.

Ro very popular in Poland too, i know.

Official Russian Community have 4 Тerritory gametype realism servers with different settings. They are always full in evening and weekends. 1 Firefight server- semi full. Аnd one Сountdown sever nearly empty as all, unfortunately.

Russia has the biggest community of RO, for obvious reasons, like our "drug" above said. They are the ones who got the most servers populated, both in RO2 and RO1 (and even in DH for a year or more).

Despite that one of the main players base of RO2 is Russian Community, there are still have enough oldies and just players from RO1 in there, those who dislike RO2 aswell.

I live in Poland and I have better pings in Russia than in Germany (it is 150 versus 240), so a few days ago I decided to give it a try (64 server). I have to say that people there used English no less than any other europeian server did. and were quite communicative to the point that they convinced me to play there more often.

Same here. When I happen to see one of Russian servers and its relatively full, I join it immediately. I get pings from Poland a little bit below 100ms, down to 70-90ms from time to time. These are the best pings I can get in RO2.
The only problem with those servers is that sometimes you join a game with people speaking exclusively Russian. But, I've noticed that when they realise that there are more than two English mike speakers on-line, they switch to this language eventually, which is very kind of them if you ask me.
