Hello I just unlocked the unhood attachment for kar 98. Not really a fan of it. I know that u can click the ranking marking to change it in game but is there a way to set it default always to have the hood on?

afaik the unlock level is always set at the highest available value when you select a class. would be cool if the game remembered your favorite unlock level.
btw, what are the differences between the weapon conditions? are they just cosmetic or do select grade weapons have better stats?

U.K.

Weapon condition is cosmetic, however as it's a result of weapon level and the progress stats, a higher weapon condition correlates to a better weapon on Action and Realism modes.

On Classic where role and weapon progress stats don't count, it's purely cosmetic.

Classic has fixed loadouts which are aimed to be more historical accurate. I think there is simply no option (yet) to downscale some weapons.

Quote me right please and not out of context. :)

aimed to be more historical accurate

What I actually meant by more historical loadouts is that it is unlogic that soldiers in RO2 have to unlock stuff that was standard-issue like bayonets. Like most RO1 guys i would also wish that you could simply equip the bayonet when you want to do it.

Can anyone explain why I have the Kar98K at level 27, yet the level 25 sights hood unlock remains locked?

That should be fixed...I am level 50 with the Kar...

That explains it then:p My in game profile screen says it's the level 25 unlock. Go figure. Thanks for the quick answer.

Just as an FYI to the 'historical accuracy' kids out there, early k98s did not have a sight hood, nor grooves cut in the sight base to accept one. Therefore it is historically accurate to have either.

My 1938 k98 does NOT have a sight hood, or grooves in the sight base to accept one.
My 1943 k98 does have a sight hood and grooved base.

Interesting stuff,,,,
Originally the Karabiner 98k iron sight line had an open post type front sight, and a tangent-type rear sight with a V-shaped rear notch. From 1939 onwards the post front sight was hooded to reduce glare under unfavourable light conditions and add protection for the post

-------
Some Gewehr 98s also saw service in World War II, though many of these older rifles were converted to either 98b or 98k specifications.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gewehr_98#Sights
-------
Variants:
Kar 98K/42: This appears to be a production variation of the 98K and is rarely encountered. The principal differences are that the foresight is enclosed in a tunnel, and the butt-plate is of a cupped form which encloses the end of the butt for a depth of half an inch or so.
Kar 98B: This bears no resemblance to the 98K. It is, in fact, no more than a Gewehr 98 rifle with its holt handle turned down and with same improvements to the sights.

Edit:I cannot find any info on your reference to the Kar98s?
Only Gewehr 98s modified to a Kar.98(b) series or Kar.98(k) series/specifications ^ above...
