I'm not sure about it to be honest. Right now it feels too fast, but then again, every time I get on a server the first dude I kill gives me HONOR LEVEL UP. So maybe it's not stat tracking like it should be.

So far though if Honor 100 is the max, they're going to have people capped out in honor within the first two weeks, maybe less.

Class and weapon experience seems paced far better than Honor, even with the free 50xp you get from just seeing a match to the end.

Honour level 72, and already battle hardened for assault class. And I've seen higher. Already seen some people with veteran status. But it's all academic. No matter what rate you set it, some people will easily rush to the top level while other more casual gamers will be left out. It's an inherently retarded idea.

But I'm not complaining since it's optional. By the time the whole craze dies down and everyone is a hero, there will be a few servers established that will run without ranked bits and with various mods/maps to suit all tastes.

Hey,

I played this beta for 62 hours (at least that's what Steam tells me).

My "honor" reached level 53 - I feel this is too fast, way too fast to be honest. I'm a player who finishes in top 5 most of the rounds :)p) and perhaps others are "advancing" slower, but I still think it's too fast.

I don't know, I just feel that 100 something hours to reach the top are ... insufficient.

Another aspect is that it seems to be very easy - you just need to be in the game. One time I connected when a game was about to end and after 3 seconds when it ended I received 50 points just for ... being there.

Also, when you teamkill you're not punished enough - you get -10 or something per teamkill, but that -10 at the end it's nothing because you receive hundreds of XP points for capping and killing. I feel that TK should be much more severe, something that if you kill 3-4 people you can finish first and still get no points or even finish with a minus in "honor". I propose something like -80 per teamkill (-40 if you are lucky to get a "np").

So .... what do you guys think: "honor" should be something that everyone who played the game for a few weeks should get or do you (like me) consider that you need to show much more dedication and just some (without "much") skill to get it ?

REMEMBER: afaik "honor" is just something that doesn't affect gameplay, it's just pride and cosmetic stuff. It's not like weapon progress where what you achieved really affects the gameplay.

+1...Agree 100%

Having Honors already, and its only the Beta...God help Us All. I think by adding a 0 at the end of that 100 hours would be more like it ( 1000+ ).

Maybe they are scaling it with the average life expectancy of an Eastern Front soldier, hence the accelerated gain.

So , first post for a long time lurker, been playing/following since RO was being worked on for SOF, MOHAA, and then finally the move to the unreal engine.

Anyways, I think it's been stated before, but honor =/= hero status.

You have to level up each individual class to attain the hero abilities for that class.

Honor more or less just shows how much of a "good" player you are, i.e. completing objectives, not throwing a grenade at the feet of 5 team mates.

Now as to whether or not honor goes up too fast, too slow, or just right. I wouldn't mind seeing it slow down a little bit, as it does seem rather go by too fast.

With that being said though, the honor level, as my understanding of it, affects gameplay 0%, there are more important fish to fry at this point

In couple of hours people "suddenly" started to vote the "it's perfect" variant ... I'm starting to wonder here *rolleyes*. In the comments just 2 people supported that, maybe this option has silent voters

Kind of a way to bump my topic ...

I played Station today (2 rounds) and I got a better look at the Honor thing ...

I finished first overall (even in the most Dishonorable category) and I still got 355 points (I'm not bragging, honestly I'm just surprised that the most Dishonorable guy can get that many points).
What I really don't like is why I've got penalized just 12 points: 1 teamkill and I believe 2 injuries (all with arty). It should have been more, much more, somewhere next to 100. If TWI keeps this style of scoring not only everybody will get Honor 100 very fast but also teamkillers will have a blast: you kill 4 people: -40 points, you injure a teammate you get -1 ... All this "dishonoring" thing is canceled if you get 100, 200, 300 etc at the end of the game.

I hope that TWI will do something, teamkilling should be penalized more severe.

Also ... anyone knows how Match Bonus is calculated ?

I think you've got it backwards as far as leveling up. Levels need to require more points. 200 points a game is fine, that is not the problem. The problem is that you leveled twice that round.

It should take about 10x more honor points to get an honor level.

As far as dishonor, I agree to a point. I remember -5 points in RO1 for a TK. Or was it -10? Maybe now it should be -5 for a team injury and -10 for teamkill.

on a side note, he's played 60 hours and got to honour level sch-fifty five. He shouldn't be quite at 100 by the time he gets to about 150, the amount of time I've spent playing darkest hour :p But yes, make team-killing hurt more, maybe scale it by your honour level so the people at the top can lower their rating really fast by going on a tk-spree, and it doesn't matter nearly as much for noobs that can't play :p

ps - if you re-implemented it like this, could I get some witches hats (traffic cones for those in the states) and boom gates (complete with BULLET XING stuck them) to stop people running in front of my mg? it's one of the few good things about the laser tracers that not nearly as many people got in the way of them :D

Maybe now it should be -5 for a team injury and -10 for teamkill.
It's -1 for injury and -10 for a teamkill. Now tell what's good in that if you receive 50 points just for playing the round (even if you do it for 2 seconds).
That means you can teamkill 5 people and lose no points.

Now I'm at 70 hours but my honor stopped at 57 (even if I play on the servers that i played before - it just stays at 57).
Without crashing (which happens frequently) and if I haven't played on servers that I later found out were not improving stats, it could have been even faster.

Anyway, the point I want to make is that reaching 100 (if it will work properly) should take you somewhere between 100 and 200 hours depending on your skill. That's one month if you play 3 hours a day.
For me this is way too easy, I REPET: honor doesn't affect you gameplay wise, if some peopel will get to 100 and you are at 5 IT WILL NOT AFFECT YOU. Everybody should stop confusing Weapon Leveling (which AFFECTS GAMEPLAY) with this "honor" thing that is just a bragging right.

And, yes, I enjoy RO:HoS without bragging stuff, even without weapon upgrades and unlocks, but if you are going to implement something I think you should implement it properly and I don't feel like the current state could be consider proper.

It's honor, not skills or experience.

Is it not meant to single out idiots who join server just to team wound/kill and cause grief?

If you are not doing any of these things and playing the game as intended, it's normal to see your honor go all the way up. You don't need to play the game for 6 months to prove that you play honorably.

No way. Dude you played 63 hours in two weeks. You have to understand, some of us do other things with our lives and I couldn't get 63 hours of RO2 in a MONTH, let alone 2 weeks.

Remember that Tripwire already said it would take ~400-500 hours to max everything out. I think that's too much. If you were to play every day for 3 months, you'd have to play 4 and a half hours a day to make it. You miss ONE day you're at almost 9 hours the next day.

Guys, this is a game, not a job. Stop trying to turn it into one.
