Was on a server this evening where my ping registered as 120 in game.

Had the 'spawn firing uncontrollably' bug several times, but I also found that often when I pressed the left mouse button it was rather unresponsive. Haven't had that noticably on any other servers, and this server seemed lag-free in terms of player-movement. Hit reg was a little flaky on it, whereas I usually find it okay on 120 ping servers.

I had those both too today, don't remember the ping, wasn't too bad (maybe 50-70).

Is that "unresponsive shot" something the server has as a setting? I remember playing Insurgency mod for HL, and it had so that your first mouse button press didn't register as shooting to prevent accidental spawn TKs.

I've had no problems with either yet. Aiming at medium range and hitting someone sprinting is actually quite easy, don't know about long range as I hate FF.

I can confirm hit detection problems, there's be a few occasions where I'm positive I've hit someone at fairly close range (10-50m) and nothing, no blood or anything.

Low ping, great framerate - they seem to get me alright though.

I came across a couple of instances earlier of firing multiple short bursts at ~5 yards with the PPSh and missing earlier.

On Apartments I was crouched in the right hand stair well: an Axis player ran through the door and I fired a 3-4 round burst and missed. I fired a second similar burst as he stood stationary just inside the door and hit him once. A 3rd burst missed completely and he subsequently killed me :(

I am noticing with both submachine guns that short bursts on players can either hit with pinpoint accuracy or completely miss. This is with me standing still and using ironsights. Where the sights are lined up in both examples and the recoil would suggest that the shots should be landing.

It would be helpful to be able to see both mine and other players latency in order to determine if this is a possible lag issue. I was assuming everyone showing as having 0 latency was a common thing but other players seem to be reporting theirs...

Had a problem a few minutes ago. In apartments I shot a german who was looking to the other side of the building, I was in the same room and I emptied half magazine. He just turned around and killed me. I was pretty confused

Minutes later, in Fallen Fighters I found a german proned, hiding near our spawn zone. Walked carefully and when I was at about 2 meters, I aimed at his head and shot. Nothing happened, had to aim at his torso before he noticed

I've been getting this a lot as well. Makes shooting anyone on the move completely impossible to predict and very frustrating. I don't even bother trying to get into close range battles.

As to hit detection problems, we have had a few reports of it, but nobody has been able to get us a 100% reproduction that we can recreate here at the office. We NEED that reproduction.

I think I've seen this detection failure happen to me twice, and both were shots that hit the upper back from upward angle, some 10 meters away.

Actually yesterday I was shot in the back myself. I saw my own blood spill in the wall in front of me, but I was fine no need for bandage. Though I was unsure if this was frienly fire and therefore unregistered? (but since I see the blood, there should be damage, right?)

You can see yours by writing stat fps in the console.

I've also noticed that sometimes, a long'ish burst at an enemy who did not shoot me first did absolutely nothing and I end up dying and he doesn't. It isn't too common, but it does feel like there is often some weird delay in shots landing or then the hits arnt detected, and even close range so it's not about velocities and the travel time etc. It does seem worse at times than others, though, so I guess it can be the server.

Also, you have to remember that there are several ways to die in this game. It's not one or two times I've been shot into a condition where I can't be saved anymore, but my character still staggers around for several seconds and I'm able to fire as the screen gets blacker and blacker. So you basically might have landed those shots and basically got a kill on the guy, but it wasnt insta-kill'ish enough and the guy managed to still return fire and it looked like you didnt hit at all or there was some delay.

I have the exact same thing. Like a Russian is standing right in front of me, 10 meters away, aiming at me and I'm aiming at him. I fire - bullet doesn't hit, then he kills me. I saw no blood, no impact - nothing, even though I was aiming at his chest in the right lung. Yet he managed to stay healthy.

This has happened a lot of times for me. Also, it feels like the bullet is too slow. It's nearly impossible to hit anyone running to side, even in short range with a kar98. Hell, I can't even kill a Russian with an MG34 at 2 meters by aiming directly at him. It seems like the bullet is lagging behind and hits the wall behind him.

This makes me rage and quit the game.

Please, TWI, do something. :(

P.S. This thread is probably in the wrong section, but I didn't want to make a new one.

I HATE the hit detiction

Everyone except me seems to have exceptional aiming so far. I can't even hit a stationary target right in my face. Or say I'm having a rifle shootout with some guy, I'd aim the ironsights right at him and get nothing. I understand that they're zeroed in for 100m minimum so maybe you'd need to aim down, but that doesn't work either. All whilst they usually get me within one shot or two at max. EVERYONE.

I don't get it, I was by no means a bad RO1 player or FPS in general, but how is it that so many people are extreme crackshots already in this game? Maybe it has to do with me, graphical/FPS settings and internet and anti-virus, but it's never been a problem in other games.

I'll turn down my graphics settings, see if that improves my FPS which would help and I'll turn off AVG completely. But I dunno, maybe I just don't understand the game enough yet, but it makes no sense to me.

Ok, here's what I have, it's not much and it may be more disruptive than helping:

This thing seems to happen to me, but not very often.
Most of the time it's when I use PPSH, on a very close target the very same weapon that causes me to lag when I'm fired at with by an enemy. But with those case I can't be sure, since I'm not even sure it's lag or terrible aiming.

It happened also once or twice with a bolt action rifle, within the same range, like under 5 meters. Those time I'm pretty sure I could not miss them since they were standing still and I was shooting them in the back. (And that's when they turn around and shoot me).

Then again, it does not happen often at all.

P.S: Reading all of the above, I gotta say I think this problem comes from a bug which invovles the angles from which you are shooting someone.

There are hit detection problems in the game or bullet lag, whatever you call it. This happens a lot to me while visting the servers, other guys have encountered it too. Let me give you a example, I enter a bulding, see a Russian sniping beside the window, I aim towards his head with a rifle, BOOM, nothing happend, he reacts and shots me down in a single shot, although I quickly fired more than him until I died, no kill... So many countless times this happen to me, especially on apartments. You're aiming perfectly and know the bullets hit the opponent, but still you're getting killed. Before anyone saying otherwise, my game works brilliantly, no lags/errors or anything related, there are just too many bugs like this in the beta. The reloading is also a problem.

Arent you probably mixing up hit detection with the slow death feature? Players that are lethally hit sometimes dont die instantly but some time later, bleeding out and so forth or fading to black.
The game runs quite crappy on my old machine (20fps at best) and I never had an issue with shots not counting.

I think all my posts aren't even being approved by anyone but anyway

I noticed dropping the video settings down from ultra (and barely worsening the graphics) massively increased my FPS and now bullet detection is much better, I knew it was me and not that I suddenly became awful at every basic FPS move ever

Hit detection is really bad sometimes. Yesterday I had my mg34 set up at the corner of a building on fallen fighters and a dude no further than 20 meters away hopped out of a window in front of me so I unloaded mg fire on him and it missed. Every single shot missed and he turned and shot me I was infuriated. Also like said above you must aim really far ahead of a target that isnt that far away. Hopefully solutions will be found to patch this.
