The Renaissance is important and you should learn about it.

This.

The more time you spend doing your homework, the educated you will be.

Which means that in time, your topics might actually have a coherent point.

Speaking of homework, perhaps a remedial English grammar class is in order for you, Flogger. ;)

To answer the OP, I guess you don't hear anyone talking about historical battles in game because RO is not really a strategic level game. It's more of a small unit tactical game. So, even when we have maps that attempt to replicate something historical, at the tactical level you can only experience a very close-up view. Let's say in RO:HoS we had a map called "Chir Station". Your immediate tactical objective would be to take the railway station at Chir, denying the Germans main rail route into Stalingrad. The tactical experience of taking that station would be far removed from the strategic implications of completing the encirclement of the 6th Army. The same might be said for what are now famous places like the Red October factory and Pavlov's House. These were tactical actions with strategic implications which probably could not be known to the average soldat and strelok.

Here's a tip folks: when a kid at least tries to start a semi-intelligent conversation about RO, maybe try giving him at least a semi-intelligent response. Who knows, he might decide to stick around and play RO for years and years.

The creation of realism units based on their historical counterparts are simply a way for some people to further immerse themselves in the game. Historical ranks and decorum are utilized but there are no re-enactments of historical battles. The reason for this is what has been stated by Private Who.

Obvious typo is obvious. ;)

Quite different from rambling.

I am still confused about what the OP was asking for.

Of course the "squad clan discussion" is empty. Maybe it is because the game is not even released yet.

And I am not sure what "squad clan discussion" has to do with the real world battles or units.

To me, it sounds like he is asking 2-3 different things... but I am not even sure what they exactly are.

+one thousand million. Seriously... Forums all over seem to be turning acidic, judgmental and condescending! Almost every thread I come across people are ridiculed and judged.. The whole reason of forums I've always believed is to have conversation and feel free to ask stupid, or not so stupid questions. Who cares if the kid is supposed to be doing reinasance homework, he came to the RO forums asking a genuine question about RO and WW2 history. Lucky there was someone intelligent enough around to give him a good answer!

In the game the actual units that were represented each had their designation in the scoreboard, but it was really secondary and kinda thrown up there as an acknowledgment.

The distinctions may be more apparent in RO:HOS but I'd be surprised if that ends up being true, TBH.

On the squad/clan level there are loads of them named after actual units that existed during the war. Some of them roleplay battles, and some of them participated in ladders like BFE (Battle For Europe) which pitted Soviet and Axis themed clans against each other to fight over a map of the Eastern Front theater in a tournament style.

When I was participating in one of the BFE "tournaments" a lot of the time we tried to keep the battles as realistic as possible, with proper squad sizes and roles. It was a bit of a hassle but it was fun all the same.

The issue with bfe was that inherently if you play one side of the map only you get unbalanced battles. Together with the 1 life scenarios werent really balanced either.

Every fight i played there and won ended in complaints from the other party, and if i remember the forums well nearly every fight ended like that. The basic idea behind it all is fine though so i hope there is a balanced gamemode with very limited lives so the realism clans can fight their game with some love for each other <3.
