So does anybody know how who the "Hero" of the team will be decided? I presume it is something like, the player with the highest rank. Or the player with the highest score after a certain amount of time.

And how many heroes would get to use the heroe weapons? Is there a class exclusively for heroes with their respective heroe weapon?

I like the idea of the hero being decided by score after a certain amount of time because it would give everyone an equal shot at it. Also, if that method is used then at least you'd know the person chosen isn't terrible. :p

Ya, the hero is the final rank, not something decided for each team.

I think I might be confused as to what a hero is exactly... So it's just a rank? I thought it was something else.

I talked to a dev a while back, and he said that Hero status would be very hard to achieve, not something as easy as getting max rank in some other lesser game (*cough* Call of Duty *cough*)

As long as it is equal number of hero's for each team I'm good. Even late comers to the game, surrounded by hero's will be "inspired" by their presence so it shouldn't be too bad of a concept.

It is the final rank, but it gives you benefits such as: Your character will look battle hardened and probably have some medals or badges to display, he will provide a moral boost to nearby friendlies (they get less suppression effects and capture territory faster). However, to balance the benefits, if a hero dies next to some friendlies, those friendlies will receive opposite effects (gain more suppression and (idk bout this one) capture territory slower)

the server actually chooses the number you can have none set on or you can make many people heroes. heroes is determined somewhat randomly based on rank and well... randomness. :p

ITT: People who have absolutely no clue what they are on about.

VETERANS:
Players will play through the game and rank up their characters. They will unlock weapons, cosmetics, and perks.*
After a long while the character will have a "battle hardened" look and will look like a veteran.

Not to be mistaken with...

Hero class*: (Granted this is pieced together from many dev posts)
After the player reaches a certain point of rank, the Hero class is available. This is a limited class (like assault, sniper, sapper etc) and only available to those that have unlocked it.
This class will have special perks like reducing suppression and very rare weaponry.

*These things will be limited or removed in realistic mode.

TL;DR, Heros are a class like sniper, Veterancy is a rank up system and has little to do with hero besides unlocking the class.

Also I heard you can jack someone's class if you are on a killing spree/doing very well.

Yes i understand this. What i don't understand is how is the hero chosen. For example; in a years time most players who are still around will be fully leveled. Will the hero class be something that you just choose in a spawn menu? In that case you could be stuck with a worse player as your teams hero simply because they got in first.

Sorry if my post wasn't clear.

My post wasn't directed at you OP, just the others that seemed to all have different answers lol.

Don't quote me on this but I remember seeing a dev post where they said the server selects the hero from the pool of players that can play as hero at random.

I think you guys are getting the wrong idea here.

Since the there are only 1 or 2 heroes on each team, it can't be solely determined by your rank. Otherwise, you'd see servers full of heroes.

It's probably determined based on a player's rank and a few other factors. The server might be full of max-level characters, but there can only be 1 to 2 heroes per team. This is just what TWI has said in the past.

I'd like to see votes being how heroes are chosen. Sure if you're stacked with a clan on your team one of them will get the hero, but hopefully it's a good clan and they chose a good hero, you know?

Yeah, kinda TWI's fault though, Veteran/hero situation can get confusing, if you never saw a dev post one thinks they are one and the same. I've seen one or two interviews where someone thought that way as well.

There isn't a hard outlined explanation of it without sorting several threads.

Eh, this is all our versions of what we have understood from the devs posts..... no1 knos exaclty how it is gonna work yet, except for that there can only be 1 or 2 heroes per team. Im not sure if they said it is the final rank (which then somehow picks 1 or 2 people availabe for the job on each team) or if it is just an unlockable class.

Whichever way, im sure tripwire will make the best decision for us :D
