They may be a long way down the track. Issue is maps you see. We can have all the special features we want but there has to be maps to put them on.

Alpha Test Instructions.

Alpha Test Instructions.

Please read all of the following Thoroughly.

We are going to host a test with all us devs and with TWI hopefully and we need players to come fill the numbers.

This test will be at 5pm Friday EST. That's in less than 24 hours from now. 12 hours almost exactly since I post this.

There will be something that you have to MANUALLY download and install. Its not ready yet. But keep checking back here for more info. It will drop quite a few hours before the event.

The server IP is 64.94.238.82:7777. Called Heroes of the West Test server and will probably be ranked. Might be in unranked. But it will have no password.

INSTALLING:

1. You will have to unsubscribe to Heroes of the west. You dont have to delete anything. But to be doubly sure you can go into C:\Users\username\Documents\my games\RedOrchestra2\ROGame and delete the 2 WF files there and then C:\Users\username\Documents\my games\RedOrchestra2\ROGame\Published\CookedPC\Packages and delete your WFGame folder. After you unsubscribe from the workshop version. You can backup these to someone else if you want. Don't need to delete maps or anything.

2. Once you have done that and downloaded it (when the download becomes available) you need to install it all too C:\Users\Gamer\Documents\my games\RedOrchestra2\ROGame. Merging the files with the right ones.

3. The extremely neccesary file goes in C:\Users\username\Documents\my games\RedOrchestra2\ROGame\Localization\INT. It will be in the download in Localization\INT and is called WFGame.int. That is extremly imported as it is the only file that doesnt download from the server. You can screw up the rest of the install and still play the mod but without that one file you won't be able to.

4.Once you have put everything in their right places it should work fine.

IT WILL BE BUGGY.
It is not a stable build and has quite a few issues. Some are actually already fixed but the fixes didnt quite make it onto the server. But some things to be prepared for.

1. There will be some missing textures and assets.

2. Sounds are not final some new guns are using vanilla sounds and yes the M3 grease gun sounds like an old women coughing.

3. The British have American accents. You will all have to put on British accents through team voice chat for this alpha test.

4. The STG44 is bugged to hell. I wouldnt use it unless you like bizzare bugs. Couple of other guns have minor issues but are still usable.

5. Other general alpha stuff that can go wrong.

Previous tests have all been just map balancing between the teams. This is the FIRST test where we will test out a lot of new things. Over the last 2 weeks we have really come together and have got new ways of properly developing the mod.

Well the british voice actor who was the closest had the recording studio he used vandalised. So they locked it down on everyone for 3 weeks.

Also the STG44 might not be bugged. Well at least not as gamebreakingly bugged as first thought. Just testing the server before we make everything live.

Just use Dropbox instead of Mediafire, Mediafire is known to delete files after a while. And holy shiet, you guys got a Oosterbeek map? I have been there allot.

Small disclaimer: Oosterbeek is only about 40% complete and just barely in alpha state. More updates to come but wanted to push it out as a proper British map for this test.

Well great fun with the matches. one thing that is ofc a bit stupid was the stg.

- It once came without ammo, i tried to drop it afterwards and it dissapeared.

- Sometimes getting the headshot sound but nothing has happend to the person i tried to shoot.

The whole event was great, a lot of people enjoyed new faction as much as new maps and weapons. Game was so solid, not so much people afterall, but this mix of 14 people with bots was absolutely great.
I've recorded a couple matches, so there will be around 3 videos.

We had 23 people at the peak. But the event was very very short notice lol. You got 12 hours notice that there was gonna be one then 2 hours from when the download became available.

That server and the download links will remain. It helped us out a lot.

Aside from the Brits having the wrong voices due to my un-work (which the devs cant help) I only had one real issue and that was the STG. Its known to be bugged, and the reload on it is weird, especially when the bug kicks in and the character starts bouncing along the floor, but I did notice once the reload does happen its instantaneous. As soon as I hit R the "Magazine is full" message pops up and I can interrupt the remainder of the reload animation and begin firing. Was a bit weird.
Really love the sound on it. The normal MKb sound was rather lightweight, but the STG now sounds a lot more beefy. Also love the sights on the Lee Enfield. Really nice rifle to use.

The STG44 was one of things that worked 100% fine in the SDK then when it was cooked and on a server it thought to itself

Yea. The event was not given enough advertisement nor shown the hotw fans that a new update was made and time to install it. I didn't event get a pre notice that event was on.

Yes it was really tossed together kinda last minute, but was neccessary to ensure the base mode "worked" online. Don't fret though there will be much more to come :)

First of all I want to thank you for nice evening. It was a lot of pleasure to test Brits

You asked for feedback. This is alpha so you know that many of the things are unfinished placeholders or not working as intended to work and obviously you know it. The issue that bother me the most is camera position in first person view for British guns.
<very personal opinion>
It is placed at so unnatural angle as it looks weird. Bren takes too much of the screen, Sten is s much centered that hipshooting is very uncomfortable. Just compare:

Left hand and the whole gun should be lower
Everything is visible for a gunner
Bren takes too much of the screen, maybe also IS "ring " could be a little thinner. (No idea is this possible without model reworking :cool:).
I think you noticed it and it is somewhere in development pipeline, but I had to ask.

Would be possible to interrrupt SMLE full reload after first stripper clip?
