Or you know, do it how other games handle workshop downloads and if they join a server with a mod/map it downloads directly from the workshop rather than the server or redirect server. Completely eliminating the need for redirect servers which may or may not be worse.

Yep, I would love that. Garry's mod has that feature, and I believe so do Natural Selection and Chivalry.

What we really need are mappers, 3d modellers and animators. All community members are free to suggest ideas.

a few mistakes for server files:

errors on map ini files: all contains Apartments informations => maps don't show up webadmin
missing line in WFGame.int must add DisplayName="Heroes of the West" in [WFGameInfoTerritories] to show Heroes of the West in webadmin gamemode list for changemap

I think grouping all maps in one folder called Maps/WFMod for example, is better to keep thing together and allow server admins and player more flexibility to clean their games and server if needed.

Amazing work, but i dont like that it doesent heat up as the portable mg42


MG42 barrels overheat way too fast in game. IRL it was like 250 rnds continuous fire before barrel heated up, and could push 400 before changing. In game it's half that. I don't remember the tripod MG34 ever overheating either, small over-sight that will never be addressed.

I need practise, death sounds give me a hard time, mine currently sound ridiculous. :(

It's indeed nice to have the MG42 mounted but the music, well it's like with all these weapon videos with music over it, you don't get the sound of the gun.

Let me quickly recall, we need these weapons:

- StGw44
- MP41
- MP28/MP34 (very similar to the Type 100)
- FG42
- Gewehr43
- Eihandgranate39
- Stielgranate mit Splittering 42 (maybe an upgrade for the standard one)
- M35 Flammenwerfer
- P08 Luger


Generally I do hope that hand grenades pack more punch as I am still running into rooms that were naded by 3 players and still someone in there survived.


I have also been thinking about upgrades for the guns as I am currently not sure whether HotW goes for IOM or RS. I would love the ability to dismount and attach the bayonet in field however.

To be honest, i'd rather not see Upgrades, they really distract from gameplay. I mean a few here and there are okay, but for every weapon not so much. Especially the Splitterring. I'd rather have the choice of a Concussion grenade that is safer to use (since no fragments will end up in your face if you stand too close) or a Fragmenting Grenade that is potentially dangerous to you in open Grounds from the very beginning. I find it rather silly to have upgrades for a grenade, imagine like, before battle they go handing out grenades and then the new recruit doesn't get a Splittering and the Officer is like "Nah dude, you have to level up your grenade more.":rolleyes: But just my opinion, and i can very well live with upgrades.
