They hand out hundreds of keys every Tuesday, and I think some feedback from a lot of you guys will help shape certain aspects of the game.

There some RO vets over there now and I'd love to see more of you guys over there (I'm the moderator over there so behave :p ).

Also that screenshot has placeholder graphics, stop being such a Negative Nancy.

Yeah, because I want to support an unknown game developer using an unknown engine that have also said their game will be "arcadey." No, thanks. I quite like my Unreal Engine and what it has too offer.

I see calling someone a troll is the modern version of calling someone racist.

1. What's your point?
2. This is a perfect example of you trolling
3. You're an idiot
4. You were calling others trolls on the H&G forum

If you aren't going to actually discuss the topic, I suggest you leave the thread.

I wish I'd get a key already signed up for this like a month ago. Are they still giving out keys?

Their engine looks way better than the Unreal Engine with textures problems everywhere. It doesn't seem to lag too and they even have their new crop fields technology to stay hidden kilometers away without the draw distance being an asshole to you. I find it way better than the ugly textures rendering system of UE3.

Looks like you play only "hardcore" games, wich RO2 isn't. Stick to RO1 and DH I guess, glad for you that DH and RO1 are still played and way better than RO2. So to buy a game you need to talk to the Devs, know their engine and the game needs to be a simulation or some sort.

H&G looks great, way more than RO2.

Uh, they created the Hitman series and Freedom Fighters. These are the original IO Interactive guys who left after the Eidos buy out and started their independent team again.

With that mentality I'm surprised any Independent developer would have your support. TWI were once just a bunch of modders lest we not forget here.

This must be popular. I've been signed up for about 3 weeks along with 3 or so other friends and none of us got keys so far. So at least 900 people were on the waitlist before us it seems.

do you have a forum account?

There quite a few people who signed up in october who haven't gotten keys. Luckily I got in in one of the first batches.

I registered again just in case my first didn't work, and got an email to confirm the account like a day later, but when I click on the link to confirm, it just sends me to the page where you register in the first place. Anyone else have this problem?

I think that might be why I haven't gotten in.

Yeah I remember something about being stuck in a loop... now when I try registering it says they are having trouble with <6 character names. Crap.

don't worry about the loop, as long as you fill out the registration and submit it you're in.

There are a lot of people who registered back in october who still haven't gotten a key. Just the way it goes.

Hludwig is now trolling the H&G threads on the ARMA2 forums....

What's with the stick up his ***?

btw, new build is out, and within the next month they are going to try and give everyone alpha access.

ArmA 2 is unrealistic in some ways such as the lack of animations, or the speed and ease of doing certain tasks such as setting up mounted weapons and reloading anti tank weapons, but it is defiantly a realistic infantry simulated. Mounting into vehicles, being dropped off, large scale operations with realistic goals, the scope, ect. makes it a simulator. To argue otherwise is very naive. You don't have to like the series, but it does offer a more realistic portrayal of infantry combat than any other game in history.

The AI is too incompetent in ArmA 2 to say that it offers a realistic portrayal of combat. There's also no sense of immersion due to the lack of good effects, suppression, and being concussed as a few examples.

The AI can be very dumb at times, but no game offers a proper scale or missions for infantry combat. And to be fair, I can't think of an infantry game which has AI that has to react to as many variables as the AI in ArmA 2 do. So while poor, it is the only example in its class.

Hopefully as time goes on the AI will become more intelligent.

For scale how about Darkest Hour?

And this is for any type of military simulation. If you don't want to play simulators, that is fine, there are some decent half realistic games out there like RO1 and Wings of Prey.

Steel Beast Pro PE is certainly a true simulation, even when played PvP. So the notion that a military game can't be sim online is not true.

Huh. It has all those in Vanilla and it's even better with AddOns. I'm veering OT though, feel free to ignore me.
