we opened 46 players server.
i did download standard config file from the "[Info] RO2 Server Config Files and more setup info" thread.

3.0 Quad / 8G RAM / WS08 Server R2

but looks like only first core is running for the server.
and also players in our server, they got 100-180 high ping.
is this about the -preferprocessor=X setting?
somebody help us please.

What is the CPU exactly ? And it is correct what you are seeing, there is one thread that will heavily load one of your cores and the rest wont get much load.

use affinity to assign the game to ONE core only, if it starts getting pushed around amongst cores, theres your lag.

What this guy said.

Quick question adding on to that, does -preferprocessor=2 mean the third core or the second core? I ask this because the 2nd core is technically core #1 (core #0 being the first).

Just confuses me a little.

i thot it was about core problem. but it's just simple Punkbuster problem.
i turned it off for now. players got 20-30ping and easy move.
i seen some ppl suggested to turn that off tho. I wasnt really sure that's related.

one more question.

our server is using Louter. if dmz open, server is way unsafe?

hm... i thot it's fixed since turn PB off. But still bad ping.
I dont think it's server's problem.
server cpu usage is only 20% and...
network also below 5% using symmetric line 100M.
dunno what makes it bad high ping.

We've had similar issues. I have around 50 ping to the server when there's only a few guys playing, but when it reaches 32(limit) it's up to around 100.
The RO2 server is set to one core and with 32 players it's taking 10% or less CPU with plenty of RAM and bandwidth to spare. So it's not the server struggling.

It seems unlikely that the server is only taking 10% of your CPU when the devs reported that it will fully load up one core on a multicore CPU above 3ghz clock speed.

Are you sure that one of your cores isn't maxed out? To be sure that it isn't struggling why not temporarily set the max player count lower to see if it fixes the issue? Refusing to test something isn't really going to help you get to the bottom of the problem...

There's still somewhat of a problem with the server optimization. After the 2nd Major update in the beta, the servers were performing super well (we were running 48 slots). Then since the patch after that we can only run 32 slots or it eats ****.

Yea I was unclear. It's maxing at 10% total, somewhere around 80% for the single core.
Still, ping increases before the core reaches 100%, which it rarely does. So something is up.
