Hi! I just wondered if there is an option to redirect players from an old server to a new Ip (they connect to one IP, and the server redirects them).

I saw something In unreal old forums that had a Code like this one...
Code:
PlayerController.ClientTravel(ServerIPAddr$":"$Por  tNumber, TRAVEL_Absolute, false);

Any Help?

Any chance on sharing this? I have thought of making some commands in-game for when you type !server1 or something, it'll transfer you to that server. This would help others with the same problem too i'd say.

Can you explain a little more? Im thinking of commands in-game that use IP addresses and no idea how to get the addresses to work over an IP like some servers.

Well if you have your own webdomain and your allowed to have subdomains

so, for example if you have 3 kf servers, but since your renting servers they all have different IP's

you can set up a redirect on your web domain

kf1.flux.net - 192.168.0.1
kf2.flux.net - 192.168.0.2
kf3.flux.net - 192.168.0.3

i havent figured out how to set a particular port for my web domain yet though, but all my servers run on the default KF port, so thats fine for me!

Actaully, come to think of it, i i cant remember if i checked with the ingame browser if it resolves to the server ip, ive checked via the steam servers and it does though, someone else might be able to confirm this, until i get home a anyway.

It makes it easier if you change host for a server etc, you just update the subdomain to the new IP and it takes up to 24 hours for changes to go through all the DNS's

How do you make the site redirection? Shamefully I have actually forgotten
I have a domain AND can make subdomains and I would like to test this out! Im still thinking of maybe adding the command feature to my custom server though ;)

my method isnt in game, but it means anyone wanting to connect doesnt need to remember a numeric ip, much much easier to remember kf.flux.net or something.

As you can see in the picture, both my Killing Floor and minecraft server has been setup to resolve under ephargy.com

Umm, dont try the KF server to test though, its pointing to the old IP! plus im not using my domain to redirect as my group has there own domain now, good thing i never gave that out. The minecraft one works fine though.

Since everything is running on the default ports i have no issues, can even access webadmin by adding the port after in the webrowser kf.ephargy.com:8075 i think.

Limitations
- When adding as a favorite, im not sure if it saves the resolved ip (the numbers) or the kf.ephargy.com etc
- Can take up to 24 hours to change the DNS servers when changing ip (my experience has been within 2 hours)
- Not sure if you can set it up for a custom port (in the case of having multiple servers on 1 ip, or a server on a custom port) *** actually you just list the port after, ie kf1.ephargy.com:7710)

If you are keen to try this way (a bit different to the OP as its not for while in a game but im thinking that the OP is meaning having the old server up but when a player connects to it, the client is told to connect to the new server automatically, i think this can be avoided in the first place using DNS redirects provided people know the server is always on the domain), Check your admin panel of you domain provider or hit me up on pm for my Steam/Skype, i might be able to guide you through if you have any issues.
