The short answer is mute your microphone.
The slightly longer answer is go to settings and lower your mic's sensitivity.

If it's not a problem with Killing Floor alone, and it happens in every game.. it's your mic.

Desktop as I use a turtlebeach x11 myself. I don't have problems and mine is auto activate. Lower your sensitivty OR make the a bind you have to press.
Always always always always always always have Push to f-cking talk on.

That being said, IF you must play with auto transmit sort out your sensitivity and for the love of god never use open mic, that got certain game devs to near the top of the list.

I have a turtle beach myself, and unfortunately theere isn't alot yo can do sadly because the microphone is crazy sensitive.
I have to have the mic like 3 inches away from my face so it doesn't hear my breathing.
KF is push to talk though, and majority of the time you can have chat software use push to talk, so set that up wherever possible. Other than that cut off some sponge and stretch it over the end of the microphone to muffle it a bit

I remember this Starcraft 2 live stream match with thousands of viewers. Big players playing the beta. Was it at dreamhack? Well anyways so one of the 3 commentators had his mic on the whole time. And you could hear his annoying girlfriend talking on the phone, and their dog was barking. And for some reason neither she or he shut the dog up - it keps howling during the entire stream. The chat was filled with hate.
