I was kinda looking forward to this. Until I found out that, even though they were renting out ad space in-game, they still found it necessary to charge the user $10 a month to access the whole game. Don't pay the $10/month, they limit the content you have access to. To hell with that, and screw EA. Mass Effect is going to be a far superior game, anyways.
Oblivion is a completely different game, and a different style of RPG. That's kind of an unfair comparison. Also Oblivion's wicked boring, Hellgate isn't.

I played the demo (which I thought for a demo, really sucked actually..).. the game is ok.. I mean.. it really is Diablo-London-3D.. it's the same sort of hack-and-slash action.. but it is Definately NOT an RPG..

In my opinion, Hellgate is massively boring. I tried it with both classes and it either was that you hold your mouse 1 and run backwards. With the swordfighter it was more like "tap tap tap tap taptaptaptaptaptaptap... ...tap tap tap tap".
It's not my cup o' tea.
well i was on and still am on the beta, i very much enjoy it but since ive had it on my computer i have to admit it is still very buggy and several of the game crashing bugs/ annoying things have been around for quite some time and still arent fixed but ill still buy it

My Engineer beefed up his rocket launcher with lots of ignite and +firedamage, now its like a napalm-rocket-launcher
Looks good, the shooting part is actually more interesting than unreal or so and the weapon system keeps your gather&optimize-instinct going
And I'm actually suprised its running - with most of the settings to the top - still very smooth, except for occasional, devasting lag/freeze for several seconds... but thats coming from the game (or server) I guess, since it sometimes also has some problems with overloading 2GB of Ram

So doesn't if you can run both on full specs then Hellgate wins.
However most people cant even run oblivion...
Hellgate on low still looks good.
I haven't heard a single bad point about that game that is true.
I have a lvl18 summoner so I know what i am talking about.
Its the best RPG out.
I can run Oblivion almost maxed, everything on full except no v-sync, AA or shadows on grass. That way I get 30-40 fps at 1920x1200. In Hellgate I get 50 FPS. In my opinion the looks of the game aren't an excuse for that performance.
And even if you say "it's the best", it doesn't mean it is. From what I've gathered, most people don't like it. And please do tell what's the R part of this game.
Some people (me) love that.
The guns are ****ing awesome.
My current rifle shoots out green stuff like a super soaker and also shoots out insects that fly round.
Its quite original and cool I thought and looks wicked.

Umm your saying Hellgate runs at 50FPS? Whats wrong with that? I get 20-30 on HGL.
So I'm a bit confused on what your saying.
But Hellgate looks amazing IMO
I would say the R16 part is the
"Contains horror scenes, contains violence."
I found Doom3 scarier only because of the bloody flashlight.
Also I'm a summoner so I only get scared when my minions die.
Some people complain that HGL is comical and I realize some people could think that
but then we would proberly find
28days weeks, hills have eyes 1,2
comical I find the it about that level of horror.
Zombies running round with no heads torsos, demons aren't to scary looking but some things are.
The floating wheel chaired/jesus things give me the ****ing creeps.
I could get round to getting a photo bucket account etc but Im lazy and those screen shots are pretty good above.

I meant the "role" part of the "roleplaying game (RPG). Imo, this game is less RPG-like than Oblivion.
But the biggest let down was the combat, for me that is.

Well combat is obviously not going to be a simulator like RO I don't know what you expected TBH combat is more than I expected.
I dont know why people go on about O its a RPG but its got not R (p or g).
LOL RO has no r p or g but its still a great game. Even if we did call RO a rpg.
