does anyone use theses heavy machineguns on the maps? i like to use them but they are so hard to use effectively. they are usually never attached to any kind of cover and are out in the open. and they have a rediculously tiny degree of view, its got to be only, what 15-30 degrees of fire. basicly as they are right now they are useless. so my suggestion is to...

1: increase its degree of fire so it can actually cover a killzone and cant be avoided as easily.(should be like 170-165 degrees of fire)

2: attach it to some better cover so the gunner can atlest injure someones toe before getting his head blown off.

The problem isn't the gun, it's the maps. Almost all the MG's are positioned in terrible positions. If they were placed in a more concealed position with better cover, they'd be a lot more effective.

o had an idea, would love to detach the heavy machinegun and move it somewhere else (moving slowly ofcourse) and then it would be like RO1 where you only have 1 belt and people have to give you more.

Spartnovika is a good map for HMGs, so is pavlovs house, but those are about the only maps that have good ones.

Engineer should be able to break down and set up HMGs around the map (not build them, just move the existing ones)

Right now the Engineer is a glorified Assault class with a big bomb, this would increase their usefulness until TWI or the community can think of new uses for this class. Might be overpowered if the HMGs get set up in crazy good positions though.

I really like this idea. +1

That is snazzy enough if you ask me. All the engineer needs is more destructive objectives, and to make satchel kills that destroy an objective not count as a TK. The fear of TK's is what nerfs the engineer more than anything. People are terrified of getting kicked from a server whenever they place a satchel as it stands. Which is very very wrong.

Then again, flame throwers, soviet body armour on some maps etc etc... yeah a few extras would be lovely. But that's really more into the scope of mods ;)

Yep, they're in terrible positions, and their field of fire always seems to stop just short of being useful, i.e., able to shoot at enemies or their positions. I also like Ossius' idea of allowing engineers to set up heavy mg's, but not use them; they could be allocated a percentage of any points teammates earn by using them.

I would **** my pants if I saw a flamethrower coming at my MG position. I approve of this idea.

Flamethrowers should be insanely op in closed spaces. Blast a jet through a window and basically everybody inside is toast accompanied by horrible cries.
Of course the fueltank is a prime target and a snipers wet dream when scoped in a huddled swarm :)

Also dangerous backblast for the operator when firing towards nearby walls.
Unwieldy, risky but oh, so worth it at the right moment.

Do you think it would be possible to have in the SDK? I mean, it would be just insanely fun to see it be used.

I imagine it wouldn't be TOO hard to rip the flamethrower effects from KF and dump them straight into RO2 with a new model and some obvious tweaking.

I can see that thing being almost as dangerous to your own teammates as the enemy though.

I'll give you 250 bucks and a hot fudge sunday if you do it. :D
