It's preventing me from playing my map in Killing Floor and pops up whenever I load any copy of the map in the editor

I've spent months on this map and now it won't even load in KF, any help would be much appreciated. Kinda desperate here.

Looks like the game can't find the listed packages. Are they from another game like Red Orchestra or Unreal Tournament? In that case you'll have to put them into the Killing Floor folders so they can be loaded.

I reformatted not so long a go so the only game I have installed at the moment is Killing Floor.
The error started to appear after the editor CTD when I tried to copy xweather from KF-Manor (To compare the values with my xweather, easier than writing it all down) and I loaded my map back up.

I also tried loading the auto saves though from before copying the xweather and they get the same error. The only thing I was doing before that was loading static meshes from the KF packages and using them in game.

How strange, I'm not porting a map, I've been using KF packages since I've built the map from nothing. I have no idea how UT packages could even be on my computer, let alone the editor heh. Any clue what else could be causing this?

That's weird. Maybe the problem isn't related to your level but to the game settings when you test it. I mean, for instance, when configuring a server, Killing Floor is enabled by default it still gives you the option to change the game type and all.

That's all I can think of if the map isn't in question. But since you get the message on opening, that would make little sense :p. Maybe you should try backing up your level and reinstalling Killing Floor and the SDK and see if it helps?

Or perhaps by copying something from the original levels, which might have been created with the UT2004 packages available, you've copied some unused dependencies.

Sorry about the mess, just thinking "out loud".

BTW, does it show any Missing Ressources on the right when you click on a package on the left? If so, you might be able to locate the problem.

I can only think it's the xweather that gave me problems since I haven't copied anything else over from the official maps. It's what crashed my unrealed before I got this error on opening again.

But even the backups before I copied the xweather give me the error, it's really odd. I tried reinstalling the sdk and that didn't work, also loading the official maps give me no errors so it must be something up with my level alone.

Reinstalling KF seems to be the only thing left to try, but I'm trying to get this out asap as I'm nearly done and I'd like at least a week of beta before submitting it for the competition.

No it will only let me click the 'OK' button.

Also it appears everytime I load my map and if I compile and start KF, go to solo it refuses to load my map.

And if you press the Play button in the editor, does it start the small console and give you an error, or does it just not work, like does nothing?

I tried that but it didn't load up, I can't remember what it said exactly but I think there was a 'can't load xxxx' in the console. I've never been able to launch a map from the editor on this computer though, so I'm used to loading up the game.

Seems I have a 6 hour old copy of my map that doesn't throw me the error when I open it up in unreal ed, I'm compiling it now. Annoying I've lost so much work but I just pray this version actually loads up and is playable.

Yeah, well if that version works, you could try copying the main additions you created, slowly, one by one, to avoid carrying the error over. Make sure you backup the working one, just saying. Maybe you could actually locate the error by copying the stuff you added and finding out when the error also gets transfered, but that would probably prove quite time consuming.

It's also probably not the xWeather then, but something that occured before and in your autosaves already.

*Deep Breath*

Okay it works, I made multiple copies hahah. Sorry for all the spam by the way but facing nearly 3 months worth of work going down the drain 2 weeks before a deadline makes you a little... anxious.

Maybe it was a buggy killing floor static mesh? it's all I can think of that I added to my map before the error. Now I have a working version I may go back and start deleting things from my recent buggy map, see if it fixes it. Luckily though if my recent maps are doomed, I only have to redo some AI pathing and jumpspot destinations. Still a pain though.

Thanks for the help :)

Okay so it seems everytime I make a new save of my archived map after I've compiled it, the new save will CTD the editor when I load it.

Build KillingFloor_Build_[2009-02-09_10.82]

OS: Windows NT 6.1 (Build: 7100)
CPU: GenuineIntel PentiumPro-class processor @ 2800 MHz with 4094MB RAM
Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 (8618)

General protection fault!

History: WWindow::WndProc <- WWindow::StaticProc <- WBrowserGroup::RefreshGroupList <- WBrowserGroup::RefreshAll <- WBrowserMaster::RefreshBrowser <- RefreshEditor <- WEditorFrame::OnCommand <- WWindow::WndProc <- WWindow::StaticProc <- MessagePump <- MainLoop

Could be the windows 7, I've had no problems with it up until now. Going to try a reinstall.

Okay, so 8 hours since the crash I've given up on getting a recent save to work and managed to get a save from yesterday to load up, save, compile and run without any errors. I save often and I save in iterations but it seemed whatever caused this error was being saved quite a few hours before it showed up. Luckily everything I have to do again is pretty much zombie spawns and pathing, so only tedious essential things I can do again easily enough.

Thanks for all your help though, this has only driven me mildly insane :)

Yeah I tried that. It gave the same error on my gf's pc so it's something to do with the map.
