Rattler, why you talk so much ****?
I bet you are axis player in RS.

edit: btw, LugNut this "stacking" bs is not funny anymore. The devs are giving the option to the players to choose their team. If they wanted "balanced" (sure) teams they've could make it with auto team pick like its in BF 3/4.

yes...i agree to a degree :D that stacking in RS got worse a bit lately. Maybe autobalance according to levels might do the trick ?

*besides..i can spectate a side and join it through that...* *maybe they should fix that first ... ;) *

Team stack will always be a problem in any game with asymetrical balance. People should just join the Team with fewest players.

This is why this game needs the Western Front, Wehrmacht Diehards Axis Stacking vs Superior American Firepower. Yes, keep the flamers, you'll need them. :p

In RS I mainly play on Axis, like I mainly play on Allies in RO2 (I prefer their weapons), and I have a roughly 50/50 win ratio. I find the Allies ridiculously easy to play on and rack up kills, but it can be difficult to push if the Japanese have entrenched themselves well enough. On the Axis side, however, I play more carefully, have to try to take out everyone before I can jump into the cap zone (DAMN THOSE BAR CAMPERS), and am on constant lookout for Flamers, but it feels more rewarding when I am successful.

So long as you know the map, both teams can win, but if both teams are equally skilled, more team work and coordination is required for the Japanese side to win.

I noticed the diminishing player count in RS too. On the other hand RoH2 is popular as ever. I play like 90% RS and 10% RoH2 and this is my explanation:

RoH2 has more teamwork! It has more veteran players communicating what to do. I love that. The people with the best scores in RS are often some weirdos only playing the same class 400 hours long, never talking, never teamplaying.
They use some of the good camping spots there are on RS maps.
New players are frustrated pretty fast. In RoH2 the player scores at the end are mostly higher but also better distributed.
Since the maps in RoH2 are more open it is also easier to spot your enemy and to know when you are in danger and when you are pretty safe.
RS veteran players often do nothing than ambushing all day making it again really frustrating for teamplayers and/or beginners, esspecially since RS weapons are that much more powerful.
Anyway I still prefer RS because of the setting and the adrenalin rush it can give you and I hate RoH2s tank system.:IS2:

I pre-ordered RO2 for me any my brother back then.

The release was a huge disaster for me, the game was unplayable for month due to plenty of crazy bugs and optimization problems. Played like 10 hours till I gave up.

Didn't touch it all until RS got released, I bought it because it was cheap and I was thinking that maybe the tech issues had been solved. And it's been very very good. Played like 150 hours since release. But got eventually tired of the lack of maps, tried RO2 again and I'm almost on 100 hours on RO2 now in a single month.

More maps, better map diversity, better diversity in gameplay, tanks, Russian and German weapons, etc.

I still love RS but I rarely play it nowadays. When I play it again, I just can't stay on it for long as Iwo and Saipan are still played ad nauseam.

Hello guys,
I'm new here. I only have slightest idea what is RO, RO2 and now RS.

On the contrary, I feel more people are picking up the game. The Japanese servers on full Realism settings are full of people (some might not come from Asia based on their pings).

This is the first time I see an American released game has so many Japanese and Koreans as they don't usually speak English (or that's just me). I'm from Malaysia BTW.

Gotta learn about the background of the franchise and history although I heard of RO before.

I'm not a big fan of modern twitch shooters, I prefer there's some form of realism in game and I feel RO could strike a balance between a fun game and simulator. For FPS I play milsim ARMA and America's Army.

Last night played RO for the first time after gifted by a friend and I was blown away! Loads of fun!

RS is a hoot. Anyone should try it - it's got an element of fun that is absent from HOS. I don't mean HOS isn't fun, but it is by turns intense/aggravating.

Bear in mind it's a weird time of year for server pops in most games - they vary greatly around the new year.

I haven't seen the Axis bias at all. BAR (RS's answer to the MKB) and Flamethrower are a total pain in the arse.

I don't know if i'd categorize it as a craze, but there is certainly a healthy level of enthusiasm. As a server operator, I can tell you that since RS was released there has been a virtual flood of custom maps. The RS servers of my clan are suffering no shortage of players for either RS or HOS. Maybe you time zone IS a factor. Most of us that host this game are pleased as punch.

RS is back full Force!!
Always several full sever and last week even an aimbotter popped up!
(35 kills in 2.5 minutes with Pistol)
However many of the New Players are still lacking experience!
There is a serious lack of capable SL and TL!
I just want to bring my last class (mg) to level 5 and I cant! I always feel responsible and Take SL or Tl if Nobody wants or can!
Besides that its interesting how tactics have changed!
Kwajalein in the beginning saw mostly capping from the ally left flank now the right is the Center it atack in 60% the time!
Guadalcanals axis tactics are no longer smok, artillery and banzai but cutting the points of from the flanks!(there was flanking before but mostly for banzai)

So is the mortar. If the Japanese team can't use it, they almost always lose.

I've had more kills than the arty several times, especially on Iwojima. Same on Kwajalein - if you know where the enemy is breaking into the trenches, you can totally obliterate them. Their fancy Garands and Thompsons and everything - useless.

It helps that the mortar is bugged and if you aim at 50m the rounds actually drop at 44ms and sometimes kill people as close as 37ms.

You have to think hard and be a little lucky to figure out where the enemy is. But when you do, it's fricking sweet.

All of the GI's pile into a bunker, hoping it'll shelter them. I direct-fire a mortar there.

GI's are lying in the cap-zone just over the hill, capping. I move around a little, pop some mortar rounds and they're all dead. They can't do ****, because they don't dare cross the ridge, and they can't hide from the mortar..

Same on Peleliu. The Jap mortar can be, if all of the mortars are firing at once like a mini artillery barrage.

To those who say that the game is unbalanced and favors the Axis:

The only reason more people are playing on HoS servers is that it has twice as many maps as Rising Storm. Hopefully Tripwire will soon release a map contest map pack in its entirety.

Then you have the fact that Flamethrowers are a point and click insta-kill weapon, while planting a booby trap grenade takes a second or two to setup, which leaves you open to being easily killed unless you're well away from any fighting (which then renders them pointless)

------
The Knee Mortar is a good weapon, but again... it doesn't equate to the level of effectiveness that the flamethrower has, thus, while the game is supposed to be asymmetrical in design, it is too asymmetrical to be picked up easily by new players or pub players... so the teams are more stacked towards the US forces in most cases and compounds the problem of the Japanese being at a disadvantage in almost all situations.
IF you try RS again: Try instantly targeting the flamethrower area with the knee mortar. I noticed the flames show up across the map pretty well, even in a heavily forested area. So you can give it the full mortar treatment as soon as they reveal themselves with that angry orange glow.
