An unexpected harddrive failure lost any and all sources of my current works in progress rendering my projects incomplete/unfinished/unreleased, such a set back will mean I'll be withdrawing from the modding scene untill the files can be recovered..IF they get recovered.

USB stick, 8+gb, ~15$.
External HD, 300GB, ~80$.
Get those and make backups of important things.

It's unfortunate that such an event is the most effective lesson that you should always backup what you need to.

Sorry for your loss. :(

Thats a shame. Don't give up though, I have had my share of harddrive failures. Do you know why it is dead? Can your computer still read it to an extent? Does it just crash/feeze computer? Do you hear clicking in the harddrive while powered on? You might be able to get data off it without expenses or much time.

Oh man, RAID1 is a good thing to have. I've had 3 critical drive failures during 2 last years. If not for the raid, all would be lost three times over.

I'm sorry! :( This has to be hard for you. I hope you don't just give it all up. You had some awesome projects and I hope you will be able to overcome this and continue with them. :( I wish you all the luck in the world, dude...
