In fairness I would have accepted either 1900 / 1901 / 1905 I think.

Aside from the difference in calibres 8mm / 7.63mm etc which you can't really pick out from a snapshot of the pistol I'm not actually sure there are any massive real tell-tale differences between the versions. I remember reading somewhere that a lot of the 1905's had a different stamping that said Md 1905 Waffenfabrik Steyr rather than just Waffenfabrik Steyr so I suppose you'd recognise it from a picture in that way - but considering I had to black out the 'Waffenfabrik Steyr' on the picture it's sort of a moot point. :D

Anyway - correct for all intents and purposes :D Well done Ska.

If all fairness though, I did have an advantage in that I've been studying turn of the century guns for the past 6 months as I'm making a game set in that period ;)

The piece I had the luck to take a look at had 1905 stamped on it. if you're ever in the North of England take a look at the Royal Armouries museum. If you call in advance you can arrange private viewings of certain items for research perposes . . . just be sure to ask nicely :p

But anyway, not that hard a gun really but hopefully it'll get a few people thinking:

EDIT: i think i've find it , it's a Dreyse 1907

Those are indeed similar to Mauser sights because most of these were chambered for 8mm Mauser.

P.S.:The owner of rifle and site above was a member on these boards sometime ago.
