Hey folks, first time posting but have been playing/watching the forums for a long time. But i decided to make a profile and jump into the community more. ANYWAY...... i noticed there are no stat tracking or unlocks for the grenades in the game. So, just throwing it out there, how about after X amount of grenade kills experience, "upgrade" them? Here is what i mean. The germans has a thing called a "fragmentation sleeve" Link: http://www.inert-ord.net/ger03a/gerhgr/stck/index.html

And the Russians had different variation as well. Link: http://www.lonesentry.com/articles/sovgrenades/index.html

so, an "unlocked" stick grenade could have a fragmentation sleeve, therefore causing more shrapnel... therefore higher kill radius... just saying, could be an interesting idea.. Cheers

Also, if this has been discussed before.. then my bad

I know there are other pressing issues at the moment, but something to consider? Anyone?

First, welcome!

though I do agree with Six_Ten, when there are unlocks in Relaxed Realism, it does make sense for each weapon to be upgradable. The fragmentation sleeves sound like good unlocks to me. Realistic.

I wonder how common they were or how easy it would be to add stats for grenades? I assume not incredibly, considering new weapons are going to be released anyway.

slightly off-topic-
maybe it's just me but it seems that grenades have been nerfed a lot in RO2. I've half heard, half experienced a bit of grenade spam in RO1, but I think there's a balance to be had between the two

Thanks for the feed back, yea im not sure how common they were, but its such a simple device to produce, that it seems there were not "rare" in any case. Lets face it, i dont belive these "unlocks" are going away anytime soon, so if thats the case, lets expand the possibilities... I think its a pretty cool idea, and these were produced throughout the war, so its not that far fetched in my opinion

Personally, I think it's generally a bad idea to make grenades more lethal. They are difficult to survive as it is.

Six_Ten... if you hate levels and unlocks then why are you in the "ideas" forum?

Ideas do not equal making up more retarded unlocks and perks for the game. WTH is this? Call of Duty?

And if you think these grenades are lethal, I wonder what would you do in RO:Ost?

Grenades are ridiculously weak at most times ingame. I well remember those good ones from the RO Mod, thrown into a room everyone inside was dead. RO2's nades remind me of modified firework crackers, because most times I experience people survive a nade that actually would rip off everything of their body. Instead I just hear some "AAHHH! I'm hit!" and the room is still not cleaned up. It's just not normal that anyone survives the explosion in a distance of up to 5-6m around the nade. It's fking poor that rooms at 4m x 4m can't be cleaned with nades on several occasions.
Sometimes I have the strong feeling I'm better of not throwing a nade at all as it will only alert the enemy of me being around.

Oh boy, here we go....

Look, I don't want to start an argument on grenade balance or how RO1 is so much better than RO2. There are plenty of other threads for that and I only stated my opinion. I don't like it when the PO'ed folks here comment on a guy's FIRST THREAD about how they want progression and stats removed. That's just rude and obnoxious, and I can't imagine the OP appreciating it.

I think it's an interesting idea. I'd never heard of grenade sleeves before and I appreciate the info Nordwest. Perhaps if they did increase the blast radius then it might make it more like RO1 for the people who want to relive those days.

I dont think its a retarded idea or unlock. I think a retarded idea would be dual wield MP40 or something. This idea is stems off something that existed, and was used...... So its not to far out there.

I agree. If we are going to have upgrades let's at least make them realistic. This idea is realistic, mbk and mp40 II isn't, enemy loadouts isn't either.
