Greenmangaming deal question (preorder bonuses?)

Hey guys and Tripwire staff,

I preordered on Steam the day it was possible and now it seems people can get it even cheaper from GMG. That's cool with me, lots more people going to get an even better deal.

However, do purchases from GMG still unlock the RO badges? Right now I'm considering contacting Steam support to undo the preorder so I can save another 7 bucks. But if I don't get the badges, I'll just keep my current DDE on Steam. They aren't a big deal but I'm a sucker for bonus items.

You will only get the pre-order bonuses ie badges through steam I am afraid.

no: you get badges and bayos where ever you buy HoS from, as it detects Ostfront on your steam profile. You can only get the DE bonuses off steam however.

GMG has the Deluxe edition for sale also, including beta access and all the other bonuses. So if you have someone refer you, the total is 31$ (20% discount + 15% discount + 5$ referral credit). If indeed we get the RO-owner badges and bayonnets, GMG is by far the best deal out there.

As for your other point about the badges unlocking based on the existence of Osfront regardless of the origin of the key:

My friend just applied the GMG DDE key and his Steam accounts list the entry as: "Red Orcestra 2 Digital Deluxe Edition - Retail" (or something similar). My Steam DDE preorder is: "Red Orchestra 2 - Digital Deluxe Edition (ROW preorder)".

I wonder if it means the loyalty preorder bonuses are Steam-exclusive. They usually are. For example, Steam's Civ V purchase had a map bonus, but this bonus was not granted if you applied a key from Direct2Drive.

I'd love to get some official statement on this from you (super cool) TWI folks.

I just cancelled my steam pre-order. I'm from Germany and I got the low-violence version without knowing because there was no low-violence notice on the shop page. It appeared a little later.
So I got a good reason for the refund support ticket (product was changed after pre-order was placed).
At first I thought "Ok, I can live with these cuts like in RO1", but after seeing this incredible deal I had to cancel it and bought the DDE with ItsJono referral link.
When there will be any trouble with the refund, I can still make a friend of mine very happy.
So thank you very, very, very much for sharing.
