Graphics Issue

Last week, a steam update occurred, and now whenever I play KF in any mode other than 'Low' and 800X600, the FPS drop so badly I can't do anything. I am running this on the following:

21 inch iMac 3.06 GHZ Core 2 Duo
8GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256MB

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling KF, I have turned off various features in graphics one by one and it still occurs. One thing that is interesting is that whenever I start the game, the screen flickers from the setting that I had it on (usually bright with high gamma) to very dark, and I have to click on the graphics settings in order to brighten it up again. This seems similar to issues others have had in the past, but not quite the same. Also, I have two people around me who have the same setup and are having the identical issues.

Any help would be appreciated as it has become an unplayable game, and we really like break time play.

Can you confirm the decrease in performance coinsided with a steam update? If so please contact Steam support and explain the situation to them.

I have reported it to them, but they in turn told me to come here. They say that there is not anything that they have seen in their update that would cause this. Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot?

I am experiencing a similar problem.

Even with my graphics dumbed down, it still "stutters" and "skips"
