Those look nice. The only problem with GT is the price system, and their previous statements that they will be using it as a beta platform to develop GT 5.

I don't want to have to buy new cars and maps. If they have a 50 dollar package with everything I'll pick it up right away though.

It is a ~50 dollar package with everything in it.

Actually the fact you had to "buy cars and tracks" for Gran Turismo HD was made up by anti-PS3-sites/blogs.
Mainly because they want to discourage buying GTHD.

It works like this:
When you can't win a certain race to unlock a car/track, you could alternatively buy the unlock key. ;)

Forza 2 looks good as well. I liked Forza better than GT 4 mainly because of the engine sounds. The fact that it had more muscle cars was a plus too.

Forza Motorsport 2 looks great yeah, but I fear just like in Forza Motorsport for the old Xbox they will screw up the slipstreams by pre-scripting them again, and the bad tire and and worse brake simulation. Damage and good engine sounds are nice, but if the gameplay is ****y, it takes down the entire game.

GT series has the best replays though - so film like - it's just as fun watching em as it is to play

It's like watching a TV broadcast sometimes :)

Artistic direction is what the GT series has always had which other games don't quite match.

info I came across - don't know how relaible it is

---

As still unofficialy stated in day before Tokyo Game Show, Gran Turismo HD should be available in December in Japan for all lucky PS3 owners there.

EDITED: New Famitsu states that game will come with two modes (releases?) "GT HD Premium" and "GT HD Classic". It remains to be seen what does it means. Also, the offical GT japanese site has put up the new section titled "GT meets PS3" dated 22-24/9, which are official dates for TGS 2006. Link: http://www.gran-turismo.com/jp/

Official info and other details are coming as Sony's conference approaches.

**********
NEW INFO:

First scans in attachment.

There is sight of first new track in GTHD: The Eiger Nordwand, Switzerland.

Also, some light has been added to Classsic & Premium modes:

GT HD Preimum will use full PS3 hardware, potential, while GT HD Classic will be based on GT HD Demo. It is somehow now obvious that both modes will be included on the same disk.

However, GT Classic mode will feature over 50 courses for online racing and online will be 100% included in the game. There is notion about weather changes, but still not mention about being real-time.

New tracks and cars will be offered to download: car is to cost from euro 0.33/USD 0.42 to euro 0.66/USD 0.84, while tracks from euro 1.32/USD 1.68 to euro 3.30/USD 4.20.

*******
EDITED: Full facts froom Famitsu trnscript of interview with Kazunori:

The latest issue of Famitsu has an interview with Kazunori Yamauchi for the new Gran Turismo on PS3.

+ They'll release 2 versions for the new Gran Turismo (they use the same "Gran Turismo HD" name of the E3 demo for the product names) for the PS3 soon. Both support online multiplayer.

+ The proper GT5 is going to hit in 2008. GT HD is meant to grow the rich network service before GT5. The online modes are based on the 4 modes in GT4 online beta (Quick Race/Tuned Race/Private Race/Time Attack) and several other modes are added. The online will be launched worldwide at the same time.

+ Gran Turismo HD: Premium is essentially a GT5 prologue that uses the full graphics power of the PS3. (Pictures show a 3D spectator crowd, very detailed car models with interiors.) The weather changes while racing. It comes with 2 courses (both original and new, city and nature) and 30 cars including new ones. You can buy additional 30 cars and 2 courses (real circuits) later online. This version (or both GT HD, not sure) is a pure driving simulator and almost a tool. You don't get cars in in-game events, you just do whatever you want with games and courses or buy new ones via online.

+ Gran Turismo HD: Classic is what adopts the GT:HD playable demo at E3 and meant to showcase the online aspect. A race is done with about 20 cars. Apparently this version starts with no cars or courses. You download a car for 50 - 100 yen (0.43 - 0.85$) and a course for 200 - 500 yen (1.71 - 4.26$). Over 750 cars and 50 tracks are available for purchase. Users can define race events freely and can hold online race events by themselves.

+ Not all cars and courses are available on the release date, they are added monthly. Some models may be a limited release for 1000 units. New playing modes and tuning parts may be available via download. It's still undecided if they allow trade among users in fear of real money trade.

EDITED: Downloads to be optional

Some sources has mention that translation for japanese articles is bad - exact translation should mean that downloads should be optional for players who doe not want to bother with playing the game in order to unlock something. This - as well as all other info - is still very unofficial.

No official press-release about all features GTHD has been published yet.

EDITED 29/09/2006

Info inside the first Ferrari movie scheduled for Paris Auto Show - http://www.gran-turismo.com/jp/movie/index.do?id=385 - states that GTDH will be coming on PlayStation 3 in Spring 2007. As Paris Auto Show is in Europe it pretty much says that we could get GTHD with the launch of the console.

NOTE: ALL STATED ABOVE IS STILL UNOFFICIAL AND HAS BEEN COLECTED FROM VARIOUS SOURCES. Very much thanx to Arwin.

*****EDITED

damn this is a huge jump up from GT4 visually, pity the sounds still ****...

They never did manage to make a large-displacement, race-tuned V8 sound like one, did they. GT3 annoyed me, cause a tuned to the gills Shelby or other American-powered V8 car sounded like a friggin stock M3...

Crap, after watching that, it sounds nothing like a friggin' real race car... The sound seemed cheesier.

Things that NEEEEED to be integrated into GT games, and this is coming from a fairly hard-core driving enthusiast:

Downshifts need to be changed. You do NOT do redline, rev-matched shifts for every gear. If you're hauling ass in 4th, and brake for a 2nd gear corner, you'll declutch and brake hard, then blip and downshift into 2nd at the proper place. You will NOT hit third on the way, as they show in GT, since that just tears your engine up. If they could make a three-pedal controller so that people could actually heel-toe, it would rock. It'd make drifting easier, too, since you could clutch-kick. :D

Better engine sounds!!!

Would be nice to have a co-driver shouting stage instructions at you on the rally stages. Add in sounds of him/her trying to resist retching occasionally.

Wow, I want a PS3 just for this game, but damn thats a good deal of money, I'm going to spend my money on making my truck faster than making some imaginary vehicle faster lol.

Then wait for GT5, in 2008, by then the PS3 will be much cheaper :)

yeah, hopefully the audio will be much better for GT:HD premium and then GT5
it should as it has 512megs of ram, vs the paltry 32 megs(?) of the PS2, and that's including VRam.....
The GT4 did well to offer what it did on the PS2, considering the limitations. They just used smalled looped bits of audio

anyway I heard GT:HD is only 15% completed so it will change a bit every week till release.

there is a video of the new menu system and damn the polycount and detail is insane
http://www.gran-turismo.com/jp/movie/index.do?id=429
the arrow icon allows you to download it

also the Rally courses for GT aren't real rally style ones anyway, more like rallycross/hillclimb where you don't really need a co-driver

100% spot on Sage! I've often wondered if the GT developers have seen let alone driven some of these cars in person. They need to get behind the wheel and take them for some laps around a track. The gameplay is the best of any driving sim, but like you I would love to see more realism.

The sound has always irked me with the GT games. The models and physics are great, but the sound is awful and detracts from an otherwise great game. Have they ever HEARD and FELT a Corvette C5R engine barreling by at full throttle? One of the coolest sounds EVER. As for the Subie vid, I've been to rally races and the real cars sound nothing like that. Also race tires do not make that cheesy squealing sound at their limits. It's more of a scrubbing noise. Co-driver shouting instructions would be great.
