TWI could possibly help you guys since Ramm helped the "Vehicles Mod Team" with coding iirc. Although "Grabenkrieg" is not a WW2 mod/RO2 expansion, TWI could still be interested in pushing new content that's based on the RO2 (code) base/SDK.

I have a big hope that this modification will be released!
Everything you did so far looks insanely good!

ever add anything positive to a thread?
here's hoping we see the day we can play this mod and that vapid is long gone by then. ;)
it looks great!
I think you're being a little harsh. I'm just being realistic; I said quite early on that Iron Europe would never see the light of day, and I had a fair idea that this wouldn't either. It's the result of several issues - me not being one of them - including unrealistic goals/expectations and a notoriously tedious engine to deal with.

You may not like my posts - I'm cynical, I admit - but they are only objective criticisms which many posters either share now or shared in the past. This game is a great infantry FPS (perhaps a brilliant one) but it is not a true sequel to RO1/DH in the sense that it's only half a game. Vehicles and tanks were made to such a ridiculously high spec that they are essentially impossible for modders to create and test, which is why after two years (?) we've still not got a single fully working user-created tank or half-track running on a server (to the best of my knowledge) and we've still never seen any such content added by TWI, who have recently said - in as many words - that they've totally given up on the idea and have essentially outsourced it to modders by giving them some vehicle code and wishing them good luck.

Don't get me wrong, it's nice of Ramm to do that (and he did say he'd spent quite a bit of his own time implementing the code) but it's still a piss poor excuse when many people wanted to play on large RO1/DH style maps with multiple vehicle types. It's not too much to expect, is it? Perhaps you believe so, I don't know.

As for WW1 mods, they have an almost unique habit of never seeing the light of day regardless of which genre they're designed for. There are a few notable exceptions, and it's great to see a WW1-themed game make it to Steam Greenlight, but it's incredibly disappointing to see two consecutive WW1 mods die before they had reached the beta stage. Incidentally, which other mods are actually working? In terms of conversion/significant content mods, In Country appears to be the only one left with any real chance of being released as a playable entity (not counting Rising Storm for obvious reasons); you may feel my cynicism is unwanted, but it's demonstrably justified.

I do like RO2 and I think for what it is, it's very good - but the point is that it is what it is, and not what it was advertised as and indeed what it should have been. If it helps, I will stop posting here unless I have something substantive to say (ie, no more bitter one-liners, which I agree are fairly worthless) but it's certainly not my fault that no substantive modding content will ever be released for this game; the root causes of that lie much closer to home and aren't going to be resolved for this game. Perhaps RO3 will have a more realistic set of goals and a more user-friendly engine?

Cheers :IS2:

Sorry for off topic, but have they released the half-track for the ro2 beta? Does that mean I can just go and test it out? Also where can I find this video of a Bren carrier you're talking about?

I don't know about the Bren Carrier. But the Universal Carrier (probably the same thing? Not sure  ) ARE in the Rising Storm beta as far as I know.
You can download and see it for yourself!

Yeah, sorry, I didn't mean to cause any confusion there. They were manufactured in the UK and shipped to several non-Commonwealth nations as Lend-lease equipment; they tended to have a Bren gun as standard, so they're often known (at least in the UK) as Bren carriers.

I just booted up the Rising Storm beta and there were no servers  is there something I'm missing? I really want to try these things out :D :IS2:

edit: nevermind, you have to press workshop in the beta. Back on topic now :)

Yes, just go to Steam Workshop, and try a map that has Universal Carriers - I recommend Barashka.
