Sometimes RO2 is the most frustrating, rage inducing game I've every played...at times I seem to be very unlucky...first round of arty turns me into little peices, I become a grenade magnet though i see it as taking one for the boys, certain maps where your headshot 3 seconds after the spawn (which is usually a sign of bad team work but really it's out of your hands).

Those comments above aren't the games fault (though I get highly suspicous sometimes of aimbots but again not really game design issue)...it can be one of those games where it either goes right (does for me the odd occasion) or everything goes wrong and you just can't get it together at all. However there is one issue that can drive me mental...thats going prone. I can't remember the amount of times I've been shot at and want to go prone but can't...god it drives me nuts, in real I'm sure I'd drop down anywhere especially if I'm getting shot at and most of the time I haven't really any clue why I can't go prone, what because I'm on a slope? You then have to proceed in fumbling around trying to find the spot where you can go prone but by then your most likely dead. Also when your wounded sometimes you can't go prone..you just stand there waiting to be hit again whilst banging the prone key.

So anyone else have this problem if so I would like TWI to change the prone system somehow as at the moment the game can be very frustrating due to my imcompentecy let alone having game design issues conspire against me (us, if your like me) aswell.

It's frustrated me a couple of times, but usually not when I need it to work most. I just treat the prone system like there is a 1-foot barrier of annoyance around all things. Trying to go prone with precision in a hurry means you will probably run a foul of something.

However I've had no problems doing stuff like, going full sprint to prone into a crater on Spartanovka, and landing on the slope of the crater with good cover.

It's decent enough I don't think it's really a priority at this point. The initial bugginess of it from beta has mostly been hammered out.

I have noticed the bandaging thing when I try to go prone though....not sure why that happens, as my prone key is nowhere near my bandage key.

Must be me then...I know it's not right up there, but the game can be very frustrating at times due in part to how accurate the guns are all round...and when I'm trying to do something and it wont let me and I get killed (again) it can drive me nuts (but I will have already been ranting at my screen most likely anyway).

I mean most of the time I'm somehwere between 10 and say 4th place mainly through team points (though when I take an smg I get alot more kills in a round than I ever do with a rifle)...but I still feel like I can be playing terrible...

I prefer a "you cannot go prone here" instead of having your arms and legs visible through walls. But I'm not really an "assault player" (only rifles for me), so I have usually enough time to find a proper position...

I have the same thoughts as you. Sometimes I really like the game and some moments RO2 is most frustrating. Played a serious amount of time now. And there are moments, despite the fact I'm getting shot often, I really enjoy the game. Most of these moments I have on the Appartments map
and Spartanovka. I really like these two. Had some great games there.

Then the next game I play its frustrating. Spots I can't prone, while the area looks perfect to prone. Like you, I move around to get a possibility to prone.
Or fighting the controls to throw a nade and moments I really convinced I reloaded to fire and hear the click of an empty weapon and get shot.

Then the next game I play, I have that loving feeling again. So its a tad weird. But has nothing to do with a learning curve.

I know this feeling, but that's mostly either the crappiness of your team or the fact you've been on the server longer than others.

You know you're on a good team when they're already pushing the second objective before you've done anything.

Anyways, I just try to treat the prone system like it's going to screw up on me....so I prone early and crawl into position. Generally I've found that, if someone is shooting at you, it's probably better to start moving than to try and further exploit your cover, unless you're proning next to something huge, let a crater or a building.

Hell, I'm just grateful I get a warning shot at all.

Ok...fair enough...so why couldn't they have had a sytem that adjusted your body along the wall or what ever once you hit prone...ome kind of animation that auto postions you.

Most likely alot of work...but I really wish TWI had bought the game out next year and added all the features that they originally wanted in.

They had that. And it was terrible. You went prone, turned and suddenly the game was trying to position your character for you, and in less than perfect spaces, it would freak out.

The system now isn't perfect, but it's leagues better than its first incarnation.

Not necessarly...I on average get say 80 team points (then add a few kills to that tally aswell) a round...most I've had was 173...More often or not I'm in those positions...and many below me have a hell of alot more kills...you get way more points kill on obj's and taking\defending obj's than just trying to get as many kills as possible. It just feels like I getting killed way to often rather tha not doing well with regrards to points..

Right.. so this was the best of a bad job then...I see...oh well never mind...the clipping in game is bad anyway...especially with walls when your crawling...

there are some places in Real life where you cannot lie down
try to lie down with a mosin rifle in the elevator = impossible

It all depends on the elevator.

Now I think we talk on position in the map where its clear that prone is possible, but
won't work. Didn't see any elevator yet in the stock maps.

I have to echo the frustration at the "cannot prone here" feature. I fully understand why it's in, but surely there's a better way to fix this issue? Maybe, let you go prone right next to objects, but if you are, maybe the game should shunt you over after you've hit the deck?

Being told "you cant prone here" kills the immersion somewhat, and is annoying as hell when all you really need to do is hit the dirt.

It could do with some "tweaks" - it's discussed a lot, after all. I get on with it much better after practice, but it can still be annoying in those critical moments.

Personally, I like the "auto crouch" idea - something which has been suggested multiple times in prone discussion threads. If I can't go prone, at least set me into crouch mode - simply having a message that I can't prone is pretty crap. Plus the message is hardly prominent on a 1080p or higher res.

If this is put in, I feel it's a win/win situation. Players win because they at least have their profile reduced to a crouch instead of simply being bolt upright in the line of fire. I dig the difficulty of "perfect prone", but the current implementation really doesn't cut it whichever way you look at it. Secondly, the developers win - because they don't need to fiddle with the existing prone code much. Simply, if player attempts to prone and cannot, go crouch instead. Job done - many prone complainers would be instantly happier, which is as close to satisfied as we're going to get I think :)

Imagine you're in 1942, having a rifle in your hans. Suddenly a squad of enemies appeares 50 metres in front of you. You want to lie down - but in front of your eyes you see the words "cannot prone here"

But it doesn't matter because you whip out your mk42b and lay down withering fire on the enemy. Then you get shot through the lung, bandage it, throw two grenades in a matter of seconds and wipe out the rest of the remaining enemies.

" Going prone....can make me mental"

Me too. And also, as I'm about to get shot, the dreaded:

Cannot prone here
Cannot prone here
Cannot prone here
Cannot prone here

At least this game has a prone unlike most other games like bc2.And for me its an improvement over ro1's prone there you could prone anywhere but your legs would stick through walls among other things.
