Can someone help with collision on my Destructible Static Mesh?

I added a collision mesh to my glass model, imported it, and in a level as a static mesh, it works fine. Where the collision box is, it collides, and where it is not, it doesn't. When I use the same model in a destructible though, the entire thing has collision.

What i want to do is have most of the glass collidable, with a thin strip of space for bots to see through. That space is too small to really affect the window getting shot or knocked out, but big enough that bots can see through it.
