Give the LAW a minimum arming range

Just like in real life it'd be nice if there was a minimum arming range on the LAW, so that when another player steps in front of you as you fire you don't get blown sky high. According to Wikipedia the minimum range is about 10m, which seems to make sense.

Of course, in FF games it'd be nice if players hit by the rocket were still hurt, but from the impact of having something fly into them rather than an explosion.

The rocket should just propel said strafe-in-front-of-heavy-weapon noob into your original target and have both of them blow up together.

I disagree .... the patriach walk directly on you and i dont want wait ... sometime i blow a rockewt at my feet ...

That game need to be fun not realistic ...

And dont tell your agreee OP or tell someting to tell why you approve ...

@Cradle Of Filth - If you don't want a realistic game then go and play World Of Warcraft. And if you find blowing yourself up fun then play TF2.

Anyway, I could see the griefers use the rocket launcher to fling players into specimens if it got added knockback. Or be used to exploit and get into hard-to reach areas where you are safe from harm.

Maybe disable firing it for a second if someone is in immediate line of fire, like weapons in Rainbow Six: Las Vegas 2 did?

Well, such a thing (a mutator that does this) would be purely for messing about with anyway, and perhaps when the player and the rocket reach the destination it kills the player regardless of whether FF is on or not and no matter how much health they have. It'd not be very suitable for public games but with friends it'd be a laugh.

Normally if i calculate how much life i have and the health the patriach have ... i can kill him 3/4 of times by bloing him when he is near and get less life...

It sounds like you need a better strategy. :)

I think for starters, TW needs to make the LAW useful to begin with.

As it stands right now, no matter what perk you're using, the LAW does absolute garbage damage when compared to rank 5 perks with their weapon of choice. That includes the bullpup.

If you go by damage per shot/amount of ammo/cost of weapon/cost of ammo, the LAW comes up short in just about every category. It takes like 5 LAW rockets to drop a fleshpound on 6 man Hard. You can carry a total of like 12 rockets, 15 if you're rank 5 support (I think, don't quote me on it).

For the price of a LAW, you can get combat armour, a hunting shotgun, and a regular shotgun, and have some change leftover if you're rank 3 or 4 support specialist.

I think for the LAW to be useful, it should do what the crossbow does, only with pushback if it doesn't outright turn the specimens to giblets. Make it have infinite piercing until it hits a wall, in which case it explodes for like double the damage it does currently. Right now there are so many better options for 1500 pounds and max weight blocks.

hrmm yes minimum arming range, and please make the law the real one shot pull it out crank back the tube and fire, then cut the price to something like ~300 each. and if you want the cherry on top give us the HEAT and HEFRAG ( check wikipedia for the exacts, im suggesting the E9 and E10 munitions)

I support this change. Not for realism, but because it improves the gameplay.

Of course, making the LAW worth using is the first step. I'd suggest improving its damage and splash radius, and possibly make enemies that it damaged (but not killed) stunned for a few seconds, depending on difficulty.

Maybe the Firebug could have its LAWs light enemies on fire, and leave fire on the ground for an extended period of time.

my suggestion is to put instead LAW following weapons:

- guided rockets like USA Stinger, Russian STRELA (which means arrow in english); cassete computer guided multirocket system (SPAWN movie type); SMART bomb
- semi automatic revolver type rocket launcher
Terminator 2 style break barrel singleshot grenage launcher.
- RPG 7
- Artillery cannons and/or machine rocket systems like KATUSHA, GRAD, SMERCH

If Tripwire accepted this idea ... maybe if you using the Rocket ... just make a slow mo star for like 5 second ....

Anbyway the Law is ok like that ... i never have see a game with the gun need to be used ina certain range ... anyway how can you see if u can shoot the ennemy and if not where u need to go ... not mid calculated ... its gonna give some problem to use it ....

Its a bad idea cuz it give more problem then it save ...

I know my english stink but anyway i cant talk you more correctly :S
