The title says it all. The hero rifleman should get something significant. It's not unrealistic to expect that a highly-decorated soldier with many kills was able to salvage a pistol from the body of his enemy.

I think heroes should get an enemy uniform too. Its not hard to imagine that a hero just alltogether took his enemy's uniform & gear.

NO.

I don't believe that anyone is so stupid as to make that jump in logic, so that leads me to believe that you're just being an immature d**khead.

To those others who disagree: do you think this idea would gameplay worse, or is just unrealistic, or both? I can understand if you think it would make gameplay worse.

I think that if you are going to have "heroes", the current state of the hero rifleman is not realistic. What's more unrealistic to me is a highly-decorated, veteran rifleman who doesn't have something to show for his time in war. I think that just about any rifleman would take a pistol if he saw one on the ground. I certainly would; it makes an easily portable backup weapon.

Semi unrealistic.
As a bunch of people already said it in other posts, if you are such a hero with awesome ninja skillz and sh*t, then use them skillz and ninja trough the enemy lines , bayonet or bash the enemy commander in the face and get his P38/TT33.

I the only thing I have against it gameplaywise is that its an enemy pistol.
It has a different sound than your nation's pistols do. Of corse this is not that big of an issue, but i can already imagine people TK ing on pavlovs house in buildings like this.
Hear a german and a russian screaming a floor under you- P38 shoots 4 times and dead silence. Basic logic kicks in > the german had a pistol and devestaded my comrade. Also he probably has an MP40 or a G41= he's gonna rape me if i go down there. So just throw a grenade downstairs and kill the guy.
result: Ended my comrades epic pistol killingspree of 10+ kills.

Something like this happend to me more then once. Tough my comrade didn't have a P38 , but an Mg34.
Thats the reason I hate people running around with enemy weapons 24/7

Actually on servers with relaxed realism hero riflemen can choose enemy handguns already.

Still, doesn't change my opinion on enemy loadouts.

Thank you for a sincere, non-sarcastic response. I hear what you're saying. I am more inclined to believe that an enemy's pistol might not be the best for gameplay, but perhaps one from his own nation. I still think the hero rifleman should get some extra, tangible benefit. That's just the only thing I can think of that's somewhat realistic, and won't totally break gameplay. Oh well.

Oh sorry, I guess I should have said that I meant the change should be for realism servers. I don't really play on relaxed realism, so I didn't know.

The funny thing is that I think it's more unrealistic that a decorated veteran rifleman NOT carry a pistol, yet the representation in-game is reversed, realism-wise (at least in my eyes).
